Oooohh, thought I'd missed this, but thank you TiVo! My TV was still tuned to channel 7, so I was able to rewind and catch this clip. Thanks for the heads up, Suzanne! Interesting segment...and what's this they say about rumors of a pregnancy??!!  It was interesting that they said Sarko and Carla only just met at a dinner party in November. Guess I missed that little tidbit along the way somewhere...I assumed they'd known each other longer. |

The funny thing is, EVERYONE is talking about this affaire. It is amazing. I hear conversations at lunch, at the bus stop, in line at the Poste, EVERYWHERE. Even the drunk on Sat night was singing in their honor!

The segment on GMA today indicated that they should get married right away so as not to affend the Queen of England by sharing a room as an unmarried couple at Buckingham Palace. Hmm, lest we we forget Charles and Camilla.

Well, according to my newspaper, even Carla's mother was not invited to participate in their nuptials. That's the last straw - no decent couple gets married without inviting the bride's mommy!!! |

Le Fig also mentioned that they may have been married Thursday. Is he nuts, or what? Although, I guess he can't exactly have his mistress traveling and living on the gov't dime, so marriage may have been the only solution.

Well if she is pregnant it will also be a reflexion of the times since I read in today's Figaro that for the first time in France there are more child born outside of mariage than from married couple. In 2007 there was 50,5 % birth from unmarried couple. In 2006 it was 48,4%. Oh well Sarko does like Eurodisnery and Rolexs what do you expect !

Yes, according to my French friend many French couples are choosing to have children and not marry...and the Italians said the same thing (they said that many young Italians aren't marrying because it's really hard to get a divorce in Italy!) They wondered why we in the states were so "hung up" on marriage!
BUT...getting back to the topic at hand...UGH! I truly truly hate to see all of France subjected to the same sleazy tabloid topics (thanks to your American Idol-izing Prez) that we have to put up with 24/7. Welcome to our world, where celebrity matters WAY more than policy...if she is pregnant, you're gonna have many more months of it to endure!!!

I just read about 'the couple' in a People mag...while having my hair done yesterday. It quoted a friend of Sarko's ... saying that he called his friend in Nov and said that he was tired of being alone at Elysees... and was somehow introduced to Carla after that. It showed a photo of a ring on her hand (ugly) in my opinion...a pink heart diamond ring that was identical to a ring he gave to his wife!! It showed two photos side by side of both women with the same ring! You don't know about these tabloids...so I guessed some fancy trick work was done to portray this...but couldn't believe anyone could be so tactless! I will say that the ring was so 'tacky' ... that it did make me stop and say..."hmmm"... could he possibly have done such a thing?  |
