Arrow - It is quite touching and significant indeed that you wrote (twice) "we" won, and I am quite sure that it was unintended ... Ian - Thank you for your congratulations, but England deserves the same ones as you played really well yesterday . Thank you everyone else, but as far as next week's match is concerned, just remember that nice people such as Ian and Andi are ... well... hummm ... English, i.e. our next opponents . Anyway, today is the day to support Argentina ! Sorry, didn't Buzet say that she is from Edimburgh

Yesterday's Haka was incredible . Usually, when the All Blacks do their Haka, the opponent team just sticks together as far away as possible, trying to look brave . Yesterday, some of les Bleus put on white or red shirts, so that lined together they would look blue-white-red, and then they sticked together, but just inches from the Blacks, looking them straight in the eyes and challenging them . Believe me, that gave you goosebumps . And the Blacks looked quite irritated . After that, the Bleus should better win, because this kind of action has much panache when you happen to win, but looks quite pathetic retrospectively when you end up losing ... www.sport365.fr/rugby/les-bleus/infos/article_197870_Haka-contre-bleu-blanc-rouge.shtml

Anne...it was quite unintended actually, but I was very caught up in the moment. I'm glad it touched you, because that means in writing it, some of the emotion I was trying to convey came through. In fact, I think I'm such a Rugby fan now, that instead of buying the t-shirt one of my servers asked me to get for him, I went out today and got him a rugby jersey so he can wear it around Ohio....and if Les Bleus win....OMG!!!

Anne - since I know nothing about rugby I had no idea what I was seeing (other than testosterone overload on both sides, of course!) Is this a traditional type of posturing before a game?
Arrow - your server is going to be thrilled, regardless of the ultimate fate of Les Bleus, if for no reason other than that very few people will know instantly what it is and he then will have the fun of responding to their questions.

Vamos Argentina!!! It was not our best match, but we won anyway.
Now we are among the four best teams in the world, and that´s good enough.
So now it´s France vs. England, Argentina vs.South Africa
Becky, read the posts above about the All Black´s haka, and watch the other video, and you´ll anderstand.

Sandy, Congratulations! A victory is a victory and the best team won on the night, although it was a tense last 10 minutes for you. Next weekend will make for some good television, but we will be away in a TV and internet free locale and will miss the events Will make up for it one way or another in Paris on the 20th ;D

Becky - The Haka has nothing to do with rugby actually, it is a Maori war dance, but the rugby players from Pacific islands like New Zealand or Tonga Islands have gotten used to "dancing"(?) it before the matchs . So now it is a tradition : every team playing against the All Blacks will form a line and watch them do their Haka between the national anthems and the beginning of the match . Here is some interesting film : the All Blacks vs. the Tonga Islands, both teams doing their own Haka at the same time : fr.youtube.com/watch?v=eJuoP_4Ubp8&mode=related&search=And congratulations to Argentina !!!

Anne - Thank you so much for providing that clip. Everyone seems to be really into that little ritual dance of theirs. What a delightful bunch they all are !!! It also looks like great exercise, which I wouldn't mind trying. ;D

What ever the outcome of the semi-final between England and France, I am sure it will be a fantastic day in Paris! There should be huge crowds as it's the home nation and English followers also have easy access to the game, the atmosphere will be electric. Ok I have to admit that my first choice will be rooting for England but if we lose out I will be hoping for France to take the title......(no offence Sandy) I have no idea how the South Africa/Argentina match will end but again I think it will be a great game to watch. As we have a good family community, I wish all teams "good luck" and hope that our American friends have enjoyed the ride with us ;D

To everyone with an interest in this coming weekend of RU! We are away for the next few days in an Internet and TV less zone. It is Karen's big birthday bash, and family and friends are having a few days away in the Yorkshire Dales. ( www.georgeanddragonaysgarth.co.uk/index.htm ) So! Best of luck Anne and all our French contributors, also Sandy, and any SA supporters, may the best teams win! And next weekend we cannot loose. If England win, great! It will be a good atmosphere. If France win it will be an even better atmosphere ; And this Saturday Karen will get a birthday surprise! A trip to Paris and a weekend at the RU World Cup ( I know how to treat a lady) ;D

Ian,
Please pass along some happy birthday wishes to your wife - she is one lucky lady (umm, and could you call my husband and have a nice little chat about birthday surprises before you go? ;D)
Good luck to all teams - I have to admit to 1) knowing nothing about rugby and 2) despite that, having a bias for the bleus.
Really - I wish all of them well - may the best team truly win (with some extra good wishes to the bleus!)

Thank you for your good wishes. They will be passed on. Although we will be in Paris for the RU final, we will not be at the match ( ), rather soaking up the atmosphere that others have already talked about (avec une bouteille de champagne !) ;D!
