Hi everyone! I see a lot of new viewers. We'd really like to get this blog going. Please don't be timid about jumping in and asking or opining. We are all just a friendly bunch who love Paris. Some of us have loads of really specific information about Paris and the neighborhoods, and some of us just visit Paris often and love it. But we all have opinions!! We'd love to hear your stories and experiences in the City of Light and answer any questions we can. Thanks!

Hi Happy, I saw a link to this site on TA and looked in, then later it was deleted. So that got me interested and I looked in again and couldn't see why the fuss. Then I looked again today and you were all bunkered down like WWIII, I almost didn't join because I had to say my age. Quelle horreur. So I steeled myself and lied about my age just a little bit because I'm still in denial. Tell the truth, this site seems nice and friendly but is it a front for TA terrorists or something?

Hi, Frangipani, and welcome to Our Paris! The reason we have all the security is that we've been plagued with a lot of extremely pornographic and violent spam in the last week or so. There's a strong possibility that it's coming from one of several disgruntled Trip Advisor posters who have a lengthy history of harrassing a few of the Co-Bloggers, myself included. I was really sorry to have to put the security measures on the forum, but for now we have to do it. I'm trying to figure out a way to at least let people read the comments without logging in.
But anyway, welcome again and please feel free to join in a much as you like!

Hi Truffaut,TA does that as you need to register to answer or ask questions but not to read the forums. That would be the best thing because I would probably not have registered if I had no idea what I would find on this forum. I had seen already that the forum was friendly and well controlled when I looked in the first time but I am really scared of opening sites if I dont know what I will find. I was looking for a hotel in france on google once and when I found what looked like its website it was a porn site. I had to turn the computer off at the power to get rid of it!
Anyway, here's cheers to finding a similar solution so people with issues either have to identify themselves or keep their problems to themselves.

frangipani, you just made me remember this silly thing: years ago when I was planning my first trip to Paris, I wanted to look up where the Nazi HQ was in Paris during WWII so I could go have a look. (I enjoy WWII history) I googled several things and one of the sites that popped up was called "Nazi Babes". My eyeballs almost popped out of my head. They looked like they all could have been Gen'l Burkhalter's sister on Hogan's Heroes. It was so funny...

Bonjour to all Paris lovers!
I recognize alot of "names" here from other sites. This is just one more French addiction for me!!! Have already added to "favs" to peruse every morning before actual work has to be done!
Thanks for creating a new place to get my fix on Paris!
Best of luck!

Welcome, Luvparee! We're not as busy here as some of the other sites you visit, but we're quality ;D
Feel free to chip in whenever you feel like it. Don't hesitate to ask questions, and be sure to tell others if you find that you enjoy Our Paris!

Hi Metromole and welcome! Although I can take no credit for this terrific forum, I really love it and want to see it grow. There is no backbiting, or other ugliness here. Just nice people who love Paris. Happy to have you.

OK OK OK - I surrender........ The "other" forum is becoming increasingly dull. The questions are all the same, most of them childish demands that we should find and suggest hotels and review their "itineraries". For goodness sake: you are going on a vacation ! Do some homework, pick a few highlights that you really want to see/do and the rest of the time: just use your curiosity and your intuition. Let your whims and fancies direct your feet - and you will get the most marvellous exciting experiences and memories to take back home. Even my best sweet, patient and peaceloving friend from the "other" forum (no names given) is starting to find the "other" forum rather boring. I have started to persuade her to come over to the Dark Side...... And if Irish sees this: You were right. Truth and accuracy do matter. Big hugs to old and new friends GitteK

Welcome, Gitte! I'm afraid we're still really slow on the forum and chatroom, but we appreciate your support. We definitely don't want to be boring! Eventually, more people from the "other place" will find us, but it will take time. It's sort of a catch 22--posters need the immediate gratification they get from lots of readers, but we need frequent posting to get lots of readers. That's the same hurdle we're facing (unsuccesfully) with the blog portion of this endeavor.
Happy, you can definitely take credit for helping this site move along. You're a frequent poster who always has something pertinent and interesting to add! A big thanks to you!!!!

Merci, Truffaut - et joyeux anniversaire !! 21 years Hmmmmm...... why is it that I get this "suspicious mind" with which - according to The King - we can't walk out.

Aaah.....so this is where you all got to! I'm also known as CK&K from Sydney, Australia on 'the other place' and have chatted with most of you here from time to time - although maybe a few years back. What a nice forum! And a good idea for those of us who already know how to get in from CDG and which RER to take to Versailles (not that there's anything wrong with that! ). I really enjoyed Luc's reviews. Musee de Nissim Camondo was on my list last Paris visit in 2005 but I ran out of time. I'm off to Paris in two week's time - and I'll be there for nearly three weeks. This trip will be focussed on the 'second order' of Paris sights - which is my way of referring to all those things you get the chance to appreciate after you seen the major 1st order sights. Having read those excellent reviews, the Museums of Decorative Arts and Gustave Moreau have now made it onto my list too - I hadnt really appreciated what they were about before. Thus, the need for a blog/forum such as this one. Hope I can contribute some reviews on my return! Catherine

Hi Catherine and welcome I am pea-green with envy at the thought of you spending three weeks in Paris. Especially at some of the things you'll be doing. I look forward to reading your thoughts on those "second tier" places as I hope to be visiting some of them myself in Dec. Have a wonderful trip!

Welcome, Catherine! There are so many fabulous "second-tier" things to do in Paris, and you're going to have a wonderful time. Feel free to ask any questions that pop into your head and we'll be looking forward to your report of your trip!

Just a note about the porn spam. I have a forum on my Web site, and I get awful spam. We have done so much to the site to ban the spam, but it still sneaks in now and then. It has taken forever to get it under control....

catherine - welcome to The Dark Side........
Truffaut - only 2 x 21 ? You're still a baby !!! BTW I had a chat with M.Luc last night about choosing between going to a show at Michou or Madame Arthur. Which would you recommend ? BTW the apartment I have rented is just across the street from Michou, so even if I have to much bubbly I will still be able to make it to bed..... (my own, that is)

Thanks to GitteK's post on the "other" forum today I found this site....had wondered where all the familiar names had gone. I'm new to the world of forums, but look forward to reading (and posting) here regularly. Hope to get to know you all well. Namaste.
