Gittek, how long will you be there for?

Louie looks like a real cuddly bunny. Such a sweetie-pie, goldenmama. And Gitte, don't try to argue with me because the Lord hath spoken.

The Lord canth taketh Her words and putteth them somewhere the sun neverth shineth......
And yes, even a dog-hating-cat-lover finds that one sympathetic.

We've been waiting to hear those words, Gitte. (not the ones that you ended in "th") You're finally starting to see the tenderness of loving canines. By George, I think she's got it!!!!!!!

Yes. they are really awesome dogs. I love labs - I used to have a chocolate one named zoe (I love chocolate too ) Joan - I just read your post! I am truly sorry for your loss. Yes, I am definitely one who believes in taking advantage of all you can now, because you never know what life will bring. I am the lucky one, luckymama - I'm so glad that we've gotten over all the mother-daughter DRAMA and we can now simply enjoy each others' company. The only drama you need in your life is the one we're going to see on Broadway this weekend! Ma, I'm glad you joined us here - you'll "get us" a lot more once you go to Paris, I know that for sure!!!! You'll be addicted like the rest of us. And we are the best group - we even have God on our side!!!

:DGitte-- Oh my goodness, you will be in Paris at the same time as me. Will you be kind enough to wear a big "Hello! My name is Gittek" name tag? That way if I run into trouble, I'll be able to spot you!

Becky, just last Sunday, as I was driving home from grocery shopping, a huge brown Siberian husky was running directly toward my car, in the middle of the road, with a broken lead trailing behind her. Of course, being an old softie for animals, I stopped and got hold of her and sat with her waiting for the dog officer. She was absolutely the best-natured girl I could imagine. And just SO beautiful too. She knew I was trying to help her and kept giving me big slurpy-wet doggie kisses. Her people showed up before the dog officer did though. So all was well.

Hi, I am new here. I post on TA, but not on the France forum much. Anyway, we are headed to France next week. Can't wait! Second trip for DD and myself, but first trip for my mom who we are taking along. I haven't read through here much as I was just told about this site yesterday, so while I SHOULD be getting last minute stuff done, I am sure I will be reading here a lot today, lol!
BTW, LOVE the pic of the golden! We have one too...she is 10 years old and sweet as can be.

Thanks for the warm welcome:)
Here is a bit of background on how our trip planning evolved. Our family of 4 went to Paris for the first time in 2001. Had a great time. Fast forward to Christmas night, this past year, and we realized that our family vacation that was to be in the Canadian Rockies was not going to work. The guys had a trip planned to Alaska that conflicted. So DH said for us girls to do our own trip. I looked at DD , who is 16, and asked her where she wanted to go. Paris was her answer, lol! By the next morning we decided to invite grandma along. Now my mother loves to travel all over the US and Canada, but has never been overseas. Nevermind her parents were world travelers. Guess it missed a generation. Anyway, the day after inviting her, she said an email saying she was "stoked", lol!
So...while summer is not my ideal time to travel, it worked best with DD's school schedule. We much prefer to travel in the off season, but hey, that's the way it goes. But hey, the best part, which is totally coincidental, is that we will be there for the sales! We are shoppers, so it is perfect timing.
My mothers style of travel is definitely first class. We are sort of a mix depending on where we are going. So we compromised on this trip. The first 3 nights we are staying at the Muguet and our rooms are supposed to have views. One room of the Eiffel Tour and the other room of Invalides. I thought it would be appropriate for mom to have a room with a view for her first trip. And to not stay at a luxury place, to get more of a feel for regular hotels there.
After that we are headed over to Bayeux for a few nights. We went in 2001, but only had time for a day trip, so we are looking forward to having a few days there. We are staying at the Hotel Churchill there so that we are central to everything.
Then back to Paris for 5 more nights after that. This time we are staying at the Britannique, which while it is not luxury per se, it is supposed to be pretty nice.
I have been taking a French For Travelers course through the local community college in preparation for the trip. Lucked out and got a fantastic teacher, who is from France. And the other people in the class were great! The last class was last week, but many of us have exchanged emails, etc and want to stay in touch. We went out to lunch all of us after class last week, and are planning another for this week. Most of the people in the class have been to France, so it has been fun to share information.
I told DD that I think we will be unleashing a monster in regards to my mom. I think she will love seeing France and I am betting she plans more trips immediately. I cannot wait to see the look on her face when she sees all the great things for the first time.
Ok, so now that I have totally bored you all to tears, and I have not done anything for my trip yet today (well except to fawn over the new clothes I bought for it, lol) I need to keep reading here:D
