Why do days run so fast when you are enjoying yourself and so slowly when you look forward to something? 115 days for me

218 (I'm sitting here with my first cup of tea and I had nothing better to do, so I counted them up)

andiandgaz - no negative numbers, please, when is your NEXT one? There is always some "next" number after visiting Paris for the first time, isn´t it?

Well I am /was hoping about 80! I was tentively planning a mid August quick visit,, but, there are things going on at home that may prevent such a visit. Teenagers are evil. Ok. just kidding, what I mean is,, being the mother of teenagers is evil. LOL

No, it isn't that at all. I took my 14 yr old two years ago, he loved it, and this year it is my next sons turn( he is now 14) , my hubby is taking him. In one or two more years I will take my last child ( girl, now almost 11). We have decided that each child gets a trip europe, one on one, with alternating parents( we are married ,, not seperated) as we just cannot afford to take a family of five,, plus the logistics of such a group size( two hotel rooms, a bigger rental car etc ) It is also a neat bonding time trip for each child.
No, this year I had a week off where my youngest child is going to stay with an aunt and an uncle for a visit, so I thought I could go ALONE and really enjoy myself,, my hubby then would only be at home with the two boys,, who could be left alone during day while he works,, but, now, due to my eldest sons dabbling where he should not dabble, well, enough said that we are thinking leaving him unsupervised may be too tough on hubby while he works. I am consdering finding said son a lovely camp to attend, I am thinking military boot camp. LOL .

I see! What a great habit! Taking kids to Europe ... that really is something. It´s more valuable than giving things. Nobody can steal you your experience.

Sorry, Joan! I can relate... As for my countdown, it's tentatively 160 days. Now that I've counted, it sounds much too far away!

;D On some levels this may be heresy (for this forum), but -- we are leaving on Thursday morning for France but on this trip we are not going to actually spend time in Paris (will do that for a couple of days in December). We're going to get the TGV from CDG, and go directly to Aubeterre to spend about 10 days, drive around Bordeaux and Cognac, visit places nearby that we have not yet seen (e.g., Brantome) etc., and mostly just RELAX!
How I'm going to survive the time before then I don't know, as I've got about a week of work to do in three days plus have not even started to think about packing!

Joan 1 -- what a great idea, and what a wonderful introduction to Paris for your children! I think that's just perfect, they will never forget it and in just works on so many levels!

I leave for Italy on 18/9 and then arrive Paris on 29/9. I have no idea how many days that is, but it was 4 months from the other day.
