That cancelled flight sounded like a distant memory by the end of your report. I'll take an almond croissant, please.

Almond croissant, without a doubt. Congrats on purchasing an air-conditioner. No one should have to feel hot when there are other options. So nice to read about your trip so far, knowing that you're still there . Enjoy!!!

Looking forward to reading how you liked Malmaison. It seems like ages since I was in Paris.

It's so nice to read a trip report. I would vote for raisin snails. Just got back from a Baltics cruise with an assortment of pastries offered everyday, but none as good as what I've had in Paris.
Love the pizza in Paris. Last time I had one with a dollop of crème fraiche on top - heavenly as long as you don't think about the calories.
I'd love to hear your perspective if you get to St. Germain en Laye or Sceaux. They seem to carry over on my "next time" list after every trip.

We have eaten at La Comedia each time since the trip when we rented an apartment on rue Buffon. The food, including pizza, is very good. We feel odd--but do not capitulate--in picking up the slices to eat rather than cutting them with a knife and eating them with a fork as almost everyone else does.
Another nice moderate price restaurant we found last trip (and went to for both lunch and dinner), close to there, is Les Delices d'Aphrodite, near the CD Metro. It is run by the same people as the nearby (and other locations) take-out Greek/Mediterranean Mavrommatis, which has a great assortment of wonderful food. The more expensive and fancier Mavrommatis resto is also nearby.

So Malmaison was worth a second visit.....sounds nice.
I'm getting my vicarious thrills reading about your ice-cream test. It wouldn't work for me, though......I'd probably start and stop with Berthillon. ;D

So glad you enjoyed the Titanic exhibit. It's really fabulous, isn't it?
As for A/C, people on tripadvisor always ask how impt. it is to have it in the summer, and I always reply in favor of it.

Thanks for your reports Annette! Sorry your trip got off to a rocky start but sounds like it was worth the hassle! And I'm happy for you that you now have A/C - I wouldn't be able to take the heat either so don't blame you one bit for getting one!
I love almond croissants so when you have another one, please think of me! LOL!!
I know what you mean about the gelato at Gelati d'Alberti as I have stopped there before - don't remember what flavor I had but I do remember it was delicious!
Hope you continue to enjoy your time there and that the next days are not so hot for you!

Loving your trip report, Annette. That air conditioner was a wise investment!
I'm also looking for an indoor activity today with air conditioning this afternoon so if you find any, let me know! Hopefully the weather prediction is correct that it will rain tonight and cool things off for the weekend.
Oh and I was on a seine cruise Wednesday night and we also remarked on the number of people along the quais. Seems everyone who was not en vacances was out dancing or picnicking that night!

Yes I'm sure the A/C will be a good investment! Even though the temp rearely gets as high as it does here it just feels so HOT there with the River right smack in the middle addng to humidity and the sun when it is out is so brilliant! And after walking around in the heat it is so nice to come back to a cool place! Even if you don't need it all night .... ANd yes I'm sure the cleaning lady loves you

Milkshakes in Paris? Hunh...there's a new one. Kind of doesn't compute, y'know? Annette, you better be careful that your neighbors don't find out about your oh-so-cool apartment, or you may be getting to know them in an extended-stay kind of way

Annette, I'm going to be sure to try the orange sanguine sorbet in October. Funny, but Tropicana orange sanguine juice is always on the grocery list when I arrive in Paris. I drink lots of it when I'm there. You can't get it at home, so it's always a treat.

Happy, no joke about being surprised to hear about milkshakes in Paris. The kiddo gave up on ordering them not long after we moved, because the overwhelming concept of "milk shake" is milk (UHT milk, not fresh) and ice cream....shaken. Pretty disappointing for a kid to get a glass of milk with a scoop of half-melted ice cream....so we'd get out the Oster once in a while and make one with malt powder schlepped back from a visit.
Only place we found that understood the concept was Annette's Diner at Disney Village -- so that was where he chooses for good grade rewards.

Interesting about the milkshakes. I confess I think of them as such an American treat that I wouldn't think to order one outside the country.
Well, now that it's cooled off, I'm sure you'll be staying outdoors but if it heats up again while you're here and you haven't been yet, I highly recommend the relatively new Islamic wing at the louvre. It was very interesting and practically empty so the a/c worked well. OTOH my travel companions were in the more populated areas of the museum and complained of crowds and sweltering heat!

Sunshine, yes of course I understand and didn't mean to come across in that way. I am much older than 10 and the comforts of home are often appealing to me as well.

Your trip sounds perfect, Annette.
I am always so eager to see as much as I can that I end up having to schedule in wandering/meandering time. I am hopeless at leaving an open itinerary.
I am loving all the ice cream tales. I am a HUGE fan of pistachio. Yum!
