We went to Sceaux in 2010 and enjoyed it. Getting the correct RER ticket was an amusing event, as I asked for a ticket to "Skoh" several times, and the RER agent professed to have no idea what I meant. Finally I wrote out "Sceaux," and the problem was resolved--and I got a pronunciation lesson at no extra charge.

Well my husband could be in for a real treat then when we use the bus during our visit in October because there is a lot of handle to grab on to ;D Really enjoying your trip report Annette!

I forgot to mention the 80 year old woman on the bus that was flirting with Darryl the other day. Rush hour crowd--he was checking email or something on his iPhone and she started talking to him about it (in French, he didn't understand a word), then more passengers got on...some shuffling, and he ended up with his back to her. With both hands, she started pinching and feeling his love handles, and didn't stop till we got off! And who says French people don't befriend "outsiders" easily?! LOL Now this is funny. We've all read the posts on TA about how travelling on the metro is so dangerous, now even bus travel is no longer a safe option. ;D

LOL Mez...that's funny.
If Annette had posted this on TA, there would have been a hailstorm of protest that the lady was, no doubt, trying to pick Darryl's pocket.

Loving your report so far, Annette! I hope the temperature comes down by the end of August. Thank goodness our apartment has a/c.

Where is Mossy, by the way?? Sorry to tell you that I'm afraid I am only an occasional lurker here and use another forum. But if you want to play ping pong these concrete tables beside the Bassin de la Villette could be yours, they are quite popular. I also remember seeing one on one of the paths in the Parc de Belleville. Am booked for another trip at the end of September, any chance of inspecting that posh apartment at long last. I'm still very jealous

Hi Mossie! ~madly waving~
Annette, any chance you could remember where on the r. Vavin that toy store is? I know the road isn't very long. I stayed in an apt on Vavin a few years ago and remember all the childrens' clothing stores.
Will be in Paris with some new grandparents in October, who I know will want to scour every toy store in the city. I have a few names and addresses already, but can use one or two more.

For your October trip, consider the Mémorial de la Shoah at 17, rue Geoffroy-l'Asnier, in the 4e, if you have not already visited it. If the security entrance does not freak you out, the extensive documentation and testimonies of "the disappeared" inside will. It brings to life, so to speak, the hundreds of plaques you see on buildings throughout the city memorializing those Parisians who never returned.

I wonder if the Shoah museum has audioguides yet. When I visited a number of years ago, it didn't. And I felt as though I missed half of it, even though it was still incredibly moving, as you say, SD.
Thanks, Annette for the toy store. It's on the list.

Annette, there definitely weren't any signs in English when I was there. This must have been 6-7 years ago. So they must have added them since. I may have to re-visit. Happy Pac....oh never mind, you don't want to hear it.

Annette - thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I have no idea when my next trip to Paris will be, but your reports have reminded me of how much I love it. Luckily, Shlomo also loves Paris, so I'm certain that we'll be back when the time is right for us. Right now my whole family is in N.Y., and the twinnies are delighting everyone with their cuteness. ;D Wishing you guys a safe trip home.

Sounds like a delightful August trip Annette...an amuse bouche for moi(23 sleeps! ) I don't feel too bad for you leaving...esp since you'll be back in Oct! I recall in my past life when I got there more often..leaving in September was hard but knowing I had my ticket for Nov helped a great deal!

Annette, Thanks so much for your reminders of why we love Paris! Wish we were getting back sooner but I think it will be spring before we can make it! Think good thoughts for our house selling quickly and for the asking price!!

Annette--
Is Bü the store near the Mercedes dealership? Its window displays seem extremely eclectic.
