I'll be visiting San Francisco the first part of September arriving on Sept. 5th. A few of us have planned a "get together" lunch for 1:00PM that day. The SF residents have suggested and the rest of us agree to meet at Chez Papa Resto. The address is 414 Jessie Street, in the new Mint Plaza, located off Fifth Street between Market and Mission; (415) 546-4134. Here's the website which includes the lunch menu: www.chezpapasf.com/resto/01_home.html As of now the group is: Framboiseetrose - Lilia Berkeleytravelers - Becky MaisonMetz - Jo Suzanne - Becky - Suzanne's sister Sandra M - Sandy Linda - a SF resident and friend of Sandy's Should be a fun group so if any of you will be in the area on Sept. 5th you are more than welcome - would love to have you join us. Sandy, I'm glad you got this formally announced. Let's hope to get more people. It will be so much fun. Like you said, we still have plenty of time. I'll get a list going about possible places to have lunch. -Lilia

I agree with you Becky - I have visited SF in most of the months of the year and September is my favorite time to be there, although I like SF so much that any month I visit is fine with me. One very special memory I have of SF is my trip in May 1987 to walk the Golden Gate Bridge for the 50th Anniversary of the bridge opening. They had underestimated the crowd so it was pretty chaotic but a thrill to a part of the activities. Hope I can make it for the 75th in 2012!

I just modified my original post with the list of attendees for our get together. I heard from Suzanne last week and unless something unforseen happens, Suzanne and her sister Becky will be joining us. Hooray!

Hi all - I found out yesterday that I have to be in San Jose at 10:30 that morning , but should be back to SF by about 12:30. Would it be a great inconvenience to make lunch at 1:00? If so, no problem just please go ahead earlier and I will join you all for dessert, the most important part of any meal! ;D

Hi Becky,
It's fine with me if we schedule our lunch for 1:00PM - in fact, it might be better as Suzanne, Becky and I will all arrive at 10:00AM at SFO. It would give us more time to get our luggage, rental car, drive downtown, find parking, etc. - especially if either of our flights are late.

I have added another name to our list for the get together - my friend Linda, lives in SF and will be able to join us. She isn't a member of OPF but loves Paris like the rest of us do and was pleased to be invited to have lunch with us. I met Linda on a Montmartre Walk when I was visiting Paris in Nov. 2006 and have kept in contact with her since that time. Suzanne - you may remember Linda from the Thanksgiving get together in Paris.

Just a few more days until our get-together. I heard from Muffy and I'm sorry to report that she cannot join us this time - maybe next year!
See you all on Friday.

I wish I could join all you California girls. You're such a lovely group, and I bet your GTG will be one worthy of a report. Naturally, the rest of us will be anxiously awaiting to hear all about it. Please don't forget to include details of the menu. ;D

Shoesy, it would be great to have the "Greeter-in-Chief" with us on the GT in SF. We've been having great weather lately. Perfect to wear your beautiful sandals.............

Mais non, Framboise, my dear.........If I were to attend your GTG, I would opt to wear shoes that are far more elegant than those sandals. (Somehow I'm envisioning all of you in very formal attire.....perhaps hats like those we've recently seen posted ) However, as much as I like S.F. (I was there once), and as much as I LOVE all of you wonderful girls , I don't think that hopping over there would be as easy as it may sound in a post.

Our lunch GT is set for 1:00 pm today (3-1/2 hours from now). It will be hot today in San Francisco, probably in the 90s (30ish Celsius). I am wearing the hat I posted the other day as it is cool on the head and because of the heat, we'll be more casual today. I find that people don't dress up as much as we used to and I go a long way.
I'll take some pictures and post those when I get back to work after lunch. Stay tuned.................

Well, framboiseetrose (Lilia) is going to do something more complete than this (she was the one with the camera!) but here's a very short version. It was a really fun time, but (extremely unusual for SF) it was HOT! I mean REALLY hot! We sat outside (only totally sealed buildings have air conditioning in SF - the general thought being, why invest in that type of equipment when it's used less than 15 or so times per year). For the first 30 minutes or so, we could hardly hear ourselves speak because of a (loud!) Latin band that was playing across the way (the outdoor tables are in a pedestrian only alley, so tall buildings on both sides that really keep sound in - good for the musicians, but makes it hard to hear anything else! The music was enjoyable, but . . . maybe to be in keeping with the food, needed an accordian? The resto did not disappoint - very reasonably priced, and good food (sorry, I'm not one who can keep track of what everyone had, but the pictures will help). I had an excellent heirloom tomato and feta salad, served on a very thin rectangle of golden watermelon - delish!! (Also a bit of framboise's very good onion tart!) Then I had grilled prawns (not sure what the marinade was, but very good), with a clever skewer idea (long stakes of rosemary, with the leaves left on the ends). And, finished with profiteroles filled with an excellent vanilla gelato. (The others will need to chime in about their choices, sorry.) Poor Sandy had an ordeal just getting to SF (plane held up in Denver), so got to Chez Papa quite a bit later than she had expected, but I'll let her fill people in. But, she did make it (they had almost stopped serving, however, so not a lot of available food choices by that time ). Plus, she brought us really fun souvenirs for the GTG (small ET in a little mesh bag, from her last trip - would/will make a perfect Christmas tree ornament, just the right size!) and a little bag of candy-coated soy nuts made in Iowa - never heard of them before, something new discovered! But - it was a good group and fun conversation! Jo (Maison Metz), Suzanne and her sister Becky, Linda (Sandy's friend), Sandy, framboise (with her camera), et moi! (Can't wait to do it again, and hopefully Randy will be in the area the next time around, and perhaps muffya can come up and join us, and, and, and - after all, who wouldn't want to come to SF for lunch??)

Becky - I am literally drooling over your dishes. Each one of them sounds very special. I'm wondering if Framboise photos will show what they look like. I bet Randy will make sure he's around next time you get together. What guy wouldn't want to be surrounded by such a group of fine ladies?
