Thanks for briefing us, Becky! I know that Lilia had intended to post photos before she left her office on Friday, but I guess we'll have to wait until Monday.

Indeed..who wouldn't want to have lunch in San Francisco? "If only there were worlds enough and time..." Sorry Andrew Marvell if I misquote! I was only there once a long time ago..as a grad student on a grant trip..but recall the food very fondly!!! Look forward to the rest of the reports!

I am so sorry to be late on this report. I came back to my office at 4:30 p.m. just about when everyone else is trying to go home. I started to report out and computer was acting out. Wouldn't print any of the pictures. It was quite frustrating. Since Becky has already told you about the resto , the weather and poor Sandy's not-so-pleasant flight/s, here's the rest. From left: Berkeleytravelers (Becky), Maison Metz (Jo), Suzanne and her sister Becky. My computer is acting up. It keeps copying the same picture. I'll try to post the pictures one at a time.

Hope it works this time. Here's our server who asked for our IDs when he served the champagne. ;D They have kir royale but with cassis and I prefer "framboise" (of course: I was so excited that I started eating and sharing the pissaladierre avec son petite salad - The onions were caramelized to perfection - so sweet with a drape of a not-too-salty anchois de Provence. No picture there but here are a couple of main courses. Becky's prawns: My choice - Chateauneuf du Pape Daube d'Agneau that was cooked until the shoulder of lamb is so silky with the addition of baby turnips - ahhhhhhh......... Desserts anyone? Becky's profiteroles with the poured warm chocolate sauce just before serving: Jo's fondant au chocolat with creme anglaise equally enticing: For the warm afternoon, I chose a vervenne citron panna cotta avec brulee de figues et coulis de framboise (what else can you expect from moi?). You can judge yourselves: With our coffee, I brought a box of Michel Cluizel chocolat not from rue Saint Honore but from the Westfield Shopping Center next door. Finally, Sandy came, hot, hungry but with some goodies for everybody: More group pictures: Maison Metz (Jo), Linda (a friend of Sandy's from San Francisco), SandraM (Sandy), Suzanne and the other Becky. Berkelytravelers (Becky) had to go back to work. C'est domage! Linda, Sandy, framboiseetrose (moi), Suzzanne and the other Becky: IT WAS SO ENJOYABLE WE WANT TO MAKE IT A YEARLY OCCASION!

What a beautiful, fashionable-looking group you are! You must have been having such a lovely time because no one looks like she's suffering from the terrible heat. Framboise, you did a good job with the photos. The food looks great too. In fact, right now I wouldn't mind having some of Becky's profiteroles, but instead of the chocolate syrup, I'd like to top them off with Jo's creme anglaise. ;D

Lilia - a picture says a thousand words! Thanks for posting these, I couldn't begin to do justice to describing the food just with words . . .

Took me ages to start taking pictures especially of food. It doubles the pleasure. I have Laidback to thank for that. I just salivate everytime he writes about a restaurant and post pictures that I finally got myself a small digital. I still forget to carry it with me or forget to take pictures even when the camera is at hand but I will learn.
Joan, I will be phoning you in a few days after yoru busy weekend with your friends, Will definitely see you next week!
And Oui, the dinner we planned will be fun. We'll have your DH take pictures of our meal.
The GT was a lot of fun and I would like to go to as many as I can. Thank you all.

Hi all,
I'm finally back home and trying to get back in the groove. Thanks, Becky and Lilia for posting such great reports and pictures. I wish I had been able to order one of their yummy entrees to tell you about but as the kitchen closed at 2:30PM and I arrived at 2:40PM, all I was able to order was a salad which I was grateful to get as I was pretty hungry. I really felt terrible that I was so late getting to the GTG but it was beyond my control. My plane left Des Moines on time and the trouble started when I got to Denver. I won't bore you with all the details, just let me say that I was supposed to arrive in SF at 10:20AM and my plane touched down at 2:10PM. When I finally got my luggage and got to the rental car counter, there was a line that seemed like about 4 miles long!! I knew everyone would be gone if I had waited so I went back to the terminal and caught a taxi to get downtown. I was able to have a short visit with Becky before she had to get back to work. The rest of us sat and visited for quite a while and it was wonderful to meet everyone and now can put a face with names on OPF. I usually make the trip to SF about the same time every year so hopefully we can have lunch together again - we talked about making it an annual affair which would be great. Randy, I hope you can join us next time.
I had a wonderful time visiting my friends in Santa Rosa and we drove in to the city to go to the Chihuly exhibit at the de Young Museum which was a fantastic experience. I have seen a tiny bit of his work before but this exhibit is really something to see. We had another great day on Sunday, drove back to the city and went to the Ferry Building Market so I could buy some bread from Acme bread to bring home and then we went to the Fog City Diner for lunch. One last stop at the Tartine Bakery for some of their wonderful French pastries. I left about 4:30PM as I wanted to get out to the airport Marriott and check in, take my rental car back and get a good night's rest as I had an early morning flight. When I got to the Marriott and opened the trunk to get my luggage I had a big shock!! My luggage was gone!! While we were having lunch, someone got in my locked trunk and took my luggage! My carry on was in the back seat which was still there but my trunk was long gone! I had to drive back downtown to make a police report and got caught up in the 49'ers traffic and what should have been about a 17 minute drive took me two hours! The policewoman told me that there has been a rash of thefts from items left in the trunk of rental cars! So, lesson learned - I will no longer leave anything I don't want to lose in the trunk.
Even though I had some troubles on this trip, I did enjoy my visit and I appreciate the efforts you all made to attend our GTG. Suzanne, thanks for making the trip from LA, it was so nice to meet Becky and to see you again. Linda, if you are checking OPF site, thanks to you too for joining our group - good to see you again. Becky, Lilia & Jo, thanks to you for taking the time to get together. Great to meet all of you and will look forward to another lunch next year - I think I'll fly out the day before next time!! LOL

Sandy - So sorry to hear about your difficulties: first your delay and then your luggage being stolen. That must have been very upsetting. In any case, I'm glad that you were able to spend some time with the other girls, and I'm sure they enjoyed your company as well. BTW, you look simply beautiful in the pics that Framboise posted. (perfect hair-do, etc.) No one would know that you had experienced that annoying flight delay.

Thanks, Shoesy -I appreciate your concern. I guess I looked a bit more calm than I actually was. Quite an experience both arrival and departure. But the main thing is that the "in-between" part was just great and I'm safe and sound. I think everyone really enjoyed the lunch and meeting one another and hopefully we will make this an annual affair! Even though I was there a short time, it was very enjoyable! We really have some wonderful members at OPF!

What an unhappy ending to a perfect getaway. They say not to leave anything in the backseat but appears in your case that was safer!
I'm confused about the pictures who is wearing the hat

Sandy, wow, that's awful and I am so sorry! You sound remarkably calm, all things considered! I hope what was taken was not irreplacable, and I'm glad to hear it hasn't put you off the idea of returning.

Glad you all had a good time meeting up. Sandy, you sure had more than your share of misadventures for such a brief journey--so sorry about your luggage

Thanks, Becky. Believe me, I wasn't calm at the time I discovered the loss - I was actually stunned! Just couldn't believe that someone had taken my luggage right in broad daylight on a busy street! But, those things happen I guess and one just has to go on and make the best of it. I never put anything valuable in my luggage like credit card info, money, cameras or jewelry but I did have some things that I had just purchased including a new green/white zebra stripe sweater from Banana Rebublic that I really liked, brand new bottle of perfume and new undies. It's funny how you miss the little things - I put my manicure scissor in at the last minute - it's my favorite and I've had it for about 30 years. Anyway, I can replace the things I lost - it's just such a pain, not to mention the expense.
