Gitte et al - I will save the red hat and smart frock look until the girls night out in paris !!! Becky - yes the company will assist in my relocation and I have already talked to a couple of rental agencies so I will be on the go looking for places to live straight away. As part of the package I get three days off to look for something but I doubt whether that will be enough. My new boss seems fairly reasonable - I told him I had five weeks booked in Paris over Christmas that I could not cancel and he just said thats no problem - so I think an extra couple of days will be ok too. I am going to try and get there a week before I start to get everything set up. My furniture will take 8 weeks to get there so if I find a place I will be camping for a little while Denise - Don't tell me its cold I was thinking that I would get a second summer - in fact I just went to my favourite NZ designer www.trelisecooper.co.nz and stocked up on her leftover summer gear which is about 90% off at the moment as it is mid winter here (I paid $555 NZ dollars for over $3500 retail- another silver lining I will be opposite season so can get Mum to shop for me in the sales and send over ) Thanks again everyone

Megan, this grand adventure started before I went on my trip and I am just now catching up on all the posts I missed, so a very belated, CONGRATULATIONS!! You must be over the moon with excitement!
On the practical side (said the retired accountant), you could ask your employer to rent furniture for your apartment until yours arrives. They can't expect you to sleep on the floor, but don't tell them that Denise has offered you a tent! ;D

WOO HOO Megan! I was surprised to hear that a citizen of the Commonwealth even needed a work visa. My DH at one time was going to try to get a UK passport, His mother is English and his father was temporarily granted Canada citizenship, when he enlisted in the Canadian Army in WWI, He thought the US was lagging behind in support and by enlisting in a foreign army he lost his US citizenship. We never followed thru on it and I wish we would have!
Now have you found an apartment or house and how is the packing coming along. I am so excited for you!!

Hi Demarais
I haven't found an apartment yet - but a friend of mine has a brotherinlaw that lives in the area that is a property developer so I am calling him this week. The packing was going well - the local hospice shop has had a few good donations ! My brother and his partner have decided to seperate after 14 years so I now have an unexpected houseguest for the next 7 weeks before I depart - its very sad but lucky no children involved ! Mum and Dad may yet have us both home for a short time - 41 year old and 38 year old children !!!!

:)Hi Megan...so glad to hear it's all systems go....I 'm getting the tent aired just in case!!! Just to warn you, (sorry!) it has been a bad summer so far in the UK, so don't throw out ALL your warm clothes. Hopefully it will improve by August. Maybe you will bring good luck and good weather to us. Denise Love from England
