There is another line made by the same company that's a bit more detailed work and really fun -- I have a whole lineup on the back of my desk at home, collected over several years, because there is a small shop on Ile St Louis (down from Berthillion, same side of the street) that has an exclusive deal for buildings that are on the island (e.g., the hotels, the cheese shop, the book store, etc.). They are rather addictive, especially when you start adding the little figures to stand in front of them (like the ice cream seller, etc.).

I absolutely love it, Annette! Thanks so much. It's not even 5:30 A.M. here, and that's the first thing I saw on the forum. What a way to start the day! (I'm still waiting for my coffee to be read.) ;D

Hi Annette ! I'm an early riser. I love mornings. I even woke up very early in Paris, but there I had nothing to do in that tiny little room of mine while my hubby was still asleep.

Hi Annette -- yes, it's by Gault but not even available at the Gault store on rue de Rivoli (they only have the usual ones). And - sigh - yes, it's the more expensive line (you can't really tell from the pictures, but when you see them side by side you can see why they charge more for the others, which are hand painted, etc.) Still, they are fun to see even if you're not inclined to buy.

cybee - LOVE your kitty !!! shoesy - you are the craziest. When you wake up so early, you must (next time) get your sneakers on and get OUT and see Paris during sunrise. No tourists, many places that are normally crowded are quiet and peaceful. And if hubby is only sleeping and snoring, he's not much fun anyway. You might get lucky and find a bakery that opens at 7:00 so you can take an almond croissant with you back to the hotel.

Darling Gitte, FYI my hubby DOES NOT SNORE in Paris. He only snores at home. Hmmm.....another good reason to go to Paris! ;D

Gitte got to you before I did, Shoesy. Early morning is the most wonderful time to walk around your neighborhood in Paris. While the streets are still quiet. You get a real sense of the city then. It's very special.

Happy, Gitte and I have already made plans to meet in Paris and go for a walk at 6:00 a.m. Anyone want to join us in June, 2008? ;D

Hey, this "serious cat" would LOVE to join you early morning walkers IF I am about in Paris at that time! I agree...morning time can be so lovely! Actually, it is my favorite time of day! I have rued that on trips prior that I just waited in the room for others to wake up when I could have gone out and explored instead ! I agree....go for a walk to enjoy the morning and explore where you are! (one can generally guess when the other will wake up or better yet, one can ask the night before when they would like you to be back)(certainly leave a note if not discussed prior just in case they do wake up and wonder! ).

I'd love to be there in June 2008 too! I know that I'm going in December...but 2008 is the year I turn 50, so I'm thinking that I'll need additional trips to Paris during the year to compensate

Me too, gordy. And it would fit in nicely with my plans to visit Paris twice per year. Perhaps we will have an early morning walk together in June 2008. Watch out, Paris!

Hey you all. I just turned 72 so you 50 year olds are just a few years older than my two older ones. Age is a state of mind (forget the body) and if you reverse 72, I am only 27. I like the French attitude about age along with other items.

So it seems that we end up being one big >>Girls On The Loose In Paris<< ?? Wauw !! ;D ;D ;D I had better order some extra chairs for the balcony at my apartment, if we are going to have a champagne party there !!! Sorry, Shoes, you'll have to put up with us - we promise we won't get out of control !

Good heavens Gitte...just how big IS this balcony??? I only ask because the ones I've seen on Paris apartments would barely have room for you and Shoesy, let alone a whole contingent of crazy women...oh this could be dangerous, ladies...Ooh la la!
