Just thought I would share this news with you all.......Gaz and I enrolled into college yesterday. Yes you guessed it, on a French course, 30 weeks at 2 hours a week, for up to a total of 3 years. Although we know a little speaking French we have started at beginner level, covering reading, listening, writing and speaking. There are qualifications at the end of each level too. I am sooooo excited, we have wanted to do it for a long time but never pushed ourselves into enrolling. After all if I am to live in Paris and have my own tattooing parlour then we need to speak the language, right? I have an official student card ID and everything!!! (plus lots of student discount) We invested in our first note pads and biro's so we are all set. I know we are busy all the time but 2 hours a week is better than nothing. Will keep you up to date on how its going ;D By the way I must say, the site is looking great! Lots of interesting material to read and computer skills seem to have progressed wonderfully. Well done all

How lovely, Andi ! It's nice enough to be enrolled in college, but to be taking a French course must be extra exciting when you have future Paris plans such as yours. Good luck on your studies. I'm sure you and your hubby will be excellent students, and you will definitely enjoy the subject matter.

Hi Andi, Congratulations on signing up for your French class!! As an Alliance Francaise drop-out, I hope you'll stick with it even when it gets hard!! And I can't wait to be the first in line at your tatoo parlour in Paris -- maybe a discreet little Fleur de Lis somewhere that will shock my children! It's so great that you have a goal to work toward. Bon Chance!!

Aude - I'm trying to imagine which part of your southern bod would look really good with a fleur de lis on it. ;D

Shoesy, This summer I got dark blue toe nail polish, and the technician even added a tiny little rhinestone! For me this was a big change, and it made me smile every time I looked down. I'm just thinking maybe I'll break out of my mold!!!

Well I think it would be a fun thing for the forum's first get-together. We should all meet in line at Andi's tattoo parlour in Paris. We will all be getting tattoos identifying us with a forum logo, maybe that fleur de lis that aude is getting, perhaps in an inconspicuous place such as our backsides....

Congrats andi!! I'm a French student too, or I will be in a few weeks - but mine is just a non-credit course at my local comminuty college.
So perhaps we can share homework notes!
And yes Happy, I'm all for the tattoo party at andi's Paris salon...maybe I'll even be able to order up my disctrete tattoo in French ;D

Congratulations and good for you. I just got my preliminary class lists (our classes start in 2 weeks) and I have three non-traditional students (meaning part time, not enrolled for a degree)! They are always the best to teach because they REALLY want to be there, they have plans to travel, they care!!
Bonne chance et du courage!!

Good for you!! This is the time of year to start new things, isn't it? I started a college French class a couple of weeks ago too. I had taken French I and II two years ago, but it's not like I can use it in my small, very southern town so I was hit by the old Use It or Lose It Syndrome. Our class of eleven includes four adult students which makes it more fun. I've also hired the college French teacher to tutor me for two hours a week, so that's a total of almost six hours a week. I hope some of it will stick. I need to be able to describe the tattoo I want!

Thank you all for the words of encouragement and Bonne Chance to all other students, I will indeed keep you up to date and possibly post up some homework for you to try (only once I have completed mine, no cheating of course).....The course starts next Wednesday night so not too long to wait now. Ohhh as I am typing this up, the Eiffel tower is on my TV all decorated up for the rugby world cup, apparently it will stay that way for the next few weeks. My mind is now ticking over to design the "OurParis" tattoo ready for those posteriors!!! Kind of like "The Lord Of The Rings" where all the actors had a tattoos on completion of filming, a secret society LOL........Time to go now, more tattooing today and tomorrow and I have some flowers to finish off today. Also my middle daughter has just moved into her new house and I am hearing words of "Mum!!! can you help?" Darcy, just had to say, my little kitty is also of the same name, an adorable tabby with a loving cuddly nature, very much a people cat ;D

I'm imagining the evening when I casually say to my family at dinner, "Well guys, just wanted to let you know that I'm off to France to get a cute little tatoo on my butt with a bunch of people I met on the internet." ;D

HA! That's a good one Aude. I met my husband on the internet so anything I do won't be shocking to any of my family ;D andi - we need to have a French word to go with the Our Paris forum tattoo... (and won't Truffaut be so happy to see that while he's away we've all planned to get our derrieres branded with an Our Paris logo!! )

Well Aude, I know about the reaction of MY family at such a dinner announcement : my husband would repudiate me, my mom would disinherit me and my kids would shout for joy (and disbelief) that mommy is getting so cool that she wants to get a tatoo ;D...

Oh geordy... you HAVE to get one too...even if it's a peel-off kind. We all have to troop through Paris afterward showing off our tattoos. Can't you picture it!?
I'd really like to be at Aude's dinner too...oh the expressions!

Wow geordy ! How could I have been so unobservant? It isn't every day that I get to meet a lady with virgin ears. ;D
