Can I just say how much I love the Tour de France? Now, while I'm more than happy to look at fit men in tight clothing, this event is an armchair traveller's dream. The scenery is spectacular - so green, so lush, so quaint, so....French! ;D ;D Like most sporting events for those of us down-under, it's on when we really should be sleeping but I can't help myself...It's going to be a sleepless couple of weeks. Hey, Mez -- that's what the DVR is for! Then you can watch them again and again (or at least, the good parts).

I couldn´t care less about the cyclists, but I always watch the Tour de France just to see the landscapes and Paris at the final day.

Question: Why is there such a high demand for the Tour de France cyclists with the Lonely Gals' Dating Bureau ? Answer: Tour de France cyclists only dismount when they have to piss....... hehehehehe........

do not spill your pearls before swine - it says in The Good Book....... Here I go to all sorts of trouble to create a really multicultural, intellectual joke and no one even notices..... Talk about ungrateful so-called "friends"......

Gitte - Speaking for myself...I couldn't think of anything that would top that!! ;D
Actually, I was surprised that you didn't mention watching the race to get a good view from behind...

I'm with you Sandy...they do not show much of it here on regular(as opposed to expensive cable which I do not have )TV, just a little recap of the week each Sunday and then a slightly longer one on the last day. I watch for the views of France, the French and Paris! Cyclists are too skinny!! Good one Gitte...Skinny but they do have stamina!!!

Gitte -- I did recognize the quote, but as I'm "an escaped fundamentalist" I didn't comment on it directly . . . .

In DK there are hours and hours each day on TV reporting from T.d.F. - plus all the interviews with the cyclists and all those "clever" sports journalists in the evening who also have to give their analysis and comments on todays etape/stage. In Europe T.d.F. is a BIG sports event.

Question: Why is there such a high demand for the Tour de France cyclists with the Lonely Gals' Dating Bureau ? Answer: Tour de France cyclists only dismount when they have to piss....... hehehehehe........ That is so funny! ;D ;D Although, I was watching an interview the other day with some Aussie cyclists and they were explaining how they don't even dismount (the bike, that is) to take care of business - there are strategically placed splits in their cycling shorts to help them out ;D We get to see the TdF stages live. I guess alot of it is because it's on late at night and it's shown on a tv channel that is very multicultural.

I too adore the Tour and may I say Congratulations to Gitte and her countryman Michael Rasmussen on his tremendous hard work these past few days. Knowing how much Gitte enjoys this "sport" I will refrain from any other comments. But I watch it from 7-10p.m. and would watch more if it were on.

susanb - Michael Rasmussen is so skinny he would most likely disappear in the sheets and then you would only be able to find him by listening to his bones rattling...... I prefer the fleshier type - but Michael is one helluva bike rider !

Gitte, It always seemed that Lance won the Tour by being the strongest climber. I think that mantle now passes to Mr. Rasmussen. So if I were to bet who will win, my money is on your Dane.

thanks guys - but alas, everybody fears that Michael will not survive in the yellow jersey after the individual time trial on Friday. BUT we still have Les Pyrenées coming up (literally !) and then you'll see petit Michael climb those nasty mountains like a spider !!
WOOF WOOF for Michael Rasmussen !!
