Yes, it is very touching indeed .
See, the fact that smelling a perfume immediately brings into your mind the person that wears/used to wear it is exactly the reason why I believe in sticking to one single perfume only ...

Luc - That's the nicest thing I've read today. What a wonderful way to keep your mother's memory alive! I guess those of us whose parents are no longer with us would always like to be reminded of them.

And this is, I suspect, the very same guy who sends a zillion white roses to his friends before cocktail parties....... oooh, we do have the sweetest types in our little congregation !

Wow, great thread ladies (and gentleman - Luc, that was a really sweet post!). I used to wear L'Air du Temps long ago, but got away from it a bit as I got older although I still like it on others. My standby for the past 10-plus years has been YSL's "Paris" (not because of the name, but because I like the light floral scent a lot) although I also like "Opium" and sometimes wear "Feminine" (Dolce & Gabana), "Flower by Kenzo" (bought it in Paris a couple of years ago), or "Kelly Caleche" (also a flowery one, shown in Gitte's photo above).
I agree that my nose gets desensitized from wearing the same thing constantly, which is why I sometimes trade off from "Paris" to one of the others for a day or two - but I find I always keep coming back to it.
LOL about the "Brut" (thought it was the height of sophistication back then!). I bought my husband Dolce & Gabana "Pour Homme" a year or so ago, and of all the ones he's tried (he has a couple of others he uses from time to time) I like that best by far (a bit spicy, but with a definite cedar note that to me makes it very "clean").
Thanks for all the notes about places to go to check out perfumes!

I too adore Guerlain esp. the upstairs 'antique' perfume bar. Last time I bought Angelique Noire and Cuir Beluga and spray each at the same time. A deep, smokey spicy combo.
As to another place, my husband loves going to Creed at 38, av.pierre 1er Serbie, Paris. They have some nice women's scents also. Also, they use no artificial flavors. I always blow my perfume bucks on Guerlain so make due with samples from Creed.

I love Fragonard. They have a darling shop on St. Germaine. I bought some" Paris" at the duty free at CDG and am rationing it. It is nice to get soemthing new each time. Especially, if it is something that is not available here yet. I was kinda saddened to see Anik for sale at Nordstorm's. I ran out of my Fragonard face cream and was happy to order it off the web-site.
I wish I could find something my husband would wear. Any suggestions?

No GitteK, that is Guerlain's new insitute....not sure what it is. The original - Maison Guerlain is at 68 ave des Champs-Elysees 8e. As you are facing the Arc d'T it is on the right hand side of the street. It is all golden inside recently renovated by Andree Putnam and Maxime d'Angeac. Two trips ago the entire upstairs was invaded by a French TV station filming a soap opera kind of thing. Go figure.

Hopefully we will fit in a visit to the Creed boutique for a purchase of a bottle of "Green Irish Tweed", my favourite men's fragrance, or the new Prada perfume or Dolce & Gabanna "Light Blue" for Karen.

Whooo IanK9... they have a new one: Virgin Island Water. It smells of coconut and rum. Creed is the only stuff my husband uses.

No Gitte - you have to go to the Guerlain shop on the Champs Elysee - they have done such a lush job on it.Its a Must SEE! Next to Saphora - pales in comparison let me tell you. Parisbound , you can order Fragonard scents on their website - www.fragonard.com . Their lovely shop is on Boulevard de Capucines. Luvparee - I agree , Catherine is great and they do the de-tax! Have you crossed the road to Annick Goutal? I believe they have just done a renovation too. Its a pretty shop and the sales ladies are very helpful . Anne266 Jardins de Bagatelle came out in the 70's and was their best selling bridal scent back then. you could get it in talc , lotion and soap - sadly , not now. You must love tuberose!

Have you noticed on the Fragonard website that they also run a musée du Parfum ? From the main page, click on "come and visit us" and then "perfume museum rue Scribe" .
According to my guidebook this is a nice museum : Napoleon III hôtel particulier, explanations on the making and history of perfume, a collection of ancient perfume labels, ancient toiletries ...

Gitte - O.K. It's no secret that we're not on the same wave length when it comes to doggies, but our cuisine preferences are diametrically opposed. Coconut and rum would probably be my last choice. Just think.......if we ever dine together, I probably won't even want to taste any of your dishes.
