Geordy,
We have had two weeks of cable issues and service outages with Comcast. Hopefully, all is going stay resolved.
Anyway, you will soon be in France. Bon Voyage.

Many of s in Manhattan, esp.in smaller bldgs. are held hostage by Time Warner Cable...a true monopoly! They are in a war with CBS over charges..so we now have no CBS programs.the channel..other than PBS, that I watch most! I didn't even have cable until the "digital initiative" and in Manhattan , with all the tall bldgs and density, antennas just don't work! Can't wait to get out of Dodge! I love NY..but I need a break!

I am also suffering with the Time Warner issue. I miss watching Sunday Morning and 60 minutes to name a few. You notice they have not reduced our cable rates.
Geordy, Have a wonderful time in Paris.

Yes both of those are part of my Sunday schedule too! And I had a French hating Algerian installer(long story about the installing part!) I was informed of that whilst he was moving my 2 ft. tall Eiffel Tower clock out of hios way..with several eye level books on the bookcase behind him with Paris or France in the title! Not to mention the blue and white metal 1 Bis on my apt. door!

Belladonna, How did you create Avatar? I thought I had a profile picture, but looks like I don't. I'd like to re-set my profile picture.

Hmmmm -it took awhile for me to figure out I had to re-size my picture to fit. I probably spent 30 minutes or more trying to get it to work before playing around with the size. I'm in no way a techy Sandy so you will be able to do it too.

Sandy, when you're logged in you will see an option for "Profile" in the light green tool bar at the top of the page. Click on that, then go to "Edit Profile" which will be on the right side of the page that comes up. From there you have a couple options to either upload your own photo, link to a photo found online somewhere, or create a personalized avatar. Hope you can figure it out!

Hi guys,
I think I have been accepted as being trustworthy enough to post on here. Boy,has this forum changed. However it is good to see so many old friends on here, still in love with Paris and all it holds.I left for a long time as I didn't think that Stella and I would ever be back in Paris and chatting on here just made the withdrawal symptoms more painful. We felt that we had "done "Paris to death but lately, some strange feelings kept intruding. Finally when we were discussing the arrival of Stella's birthday which will not be named ,but ends in a zero, I asked her what she wanted to do for it. Back came the answer, "Paris". There we are then. Paris in April or, April in Paris. Now we have the horrid job of looking for an apartment over the winter and screaming every time the air fares go up. Please keep writing reports and showing pics of food even if they are not on Weight Watchers approved lists. Bisous, George

Thank you Annette and it is great to once more look at alyssum. I was very disappointed to see that the format of the site has changed so much and I understand that it was caused by too much spam.Much as I like spam, especially fried with chips, the new designation can be a pain. I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone discovered that it was a good forum for garbage adverts and maybe we were just plain lucky to go on for so long before the deluge.
Anyway,to all reading this please post something as I am now retired and starved for something to read.As a start, any good one bedroom apartments for rent in April? How are the restaurants? Any good new ones that won't break a couple of pensioner's pockets? Do you ladies still have eyes for pompiers?
Be good and we will chat again.
George

George, Good to have you back with us and congrats on your retirement!we hasve rented frm Vacation in Paris a few times.WE have rented the Marais Garden delight on Rue St Antoine. right across fron St Louis and St Paul cath. There are 2 bakeries a cheese shop, a verger and 1 supermarket rigt across the street. and the bus stop to everywhere is right outside the door! It's a few minutes walk to Place Bastillle or Pl.de Vosges and Ile st louis is about 5 minutes away. Metro St Paul is a few yards down the street. Several good cafes nearby! We like the Bouquet St Paul I think Geordie recommends that too. Their prices are reasonable you can pay with a credit card before you leave home and you get the key in the mail before you leaq ve. No security deposit you buy a very reasonable insurance poliy to cover any breaksage. I think it has a washer and dryer but I never used them as there is a laundramat right next door and it is fast!!We can't go back to Paris this fall as we are moving only 10 miles but it is the same amount of work as crosscountry. We don't get to go untilspring March I think!!
