The Magic of Paris Never Fades ……….
Do you think after more than 30 years of visiting with 5 years of that as a resident, the magic would have faded? Guess what?
This last trip in December 2011 was just as magical as the first………despite a little illness (for me) in the first week and (for Tom) the second week! This is what you’d call a real vacation – no itinerary nor concrete plans – just time to savor the Christmas Lights. The only difference is I didn’t cry at Notre Dame this time. Of course, I have from time to time when I am full of emotions.
Some wonderful meals,
With my favorite Maitre D’ from L’Obe, Frederic Caillol
visit with friends (pictures later), chocolates and more chocolates plus pastries galore! This is what Paris means to me!
Took time to appreciate the beautiful clouds with the famous Paris lights shining through them, walking along the Seine, oogling the beautiful store “vitrines”, enjoying the holiday decorations with happy children around, enjoying a windowful of Karl Lagerfeld doing all sorts of things.
Discovering new shops for me is a plus – a visit at Un Dimanche a Paris for the first time and running into Pierre Cluizel to talk about the new concept of his restaurant cum tea salon, lounge, cooking demonstration classes, pastries and of course chocolates. Love the packaging and the individual serving of Buche de Noel complete with the decorated square of chocolate on both sides. Oh, so heavenly!!!
The buche is the one with the "Logo" on the chocolate - the baguette was to prop up a box. NO, it was not a Cluizel
Managed to get the following while waiting for the place to open (opens at 11:00 am; closed on Mondays). It was worth the wait. The smells were fantastic. Who do you think was acting like a kid when the doors opened?
[
My next visit there was my last day in Paris to buy things to carry back home to San Francisco – hoping there will be room in the bags. Might have to get rid of some old clothes – who needs them?
Mr. Cluizel recognized me and came over to chat. Needless to say, Tom was impressed. We shook hands and said “Au Revoir”. No ….. we’re not yet in the bisous stage – probably never will………
