To all of you across the globe who celebrate this very special holiday, I wish you a festive day of love, serenity and joy. "Serenity" now there's a stretch for a "family holiday".....LOL! Watched "A Christmas Tale" last evening...rather a dark family Holiday tale......I mixed it up with the one where one character says Christmas is ruined because someone for got to bring the truffles! But got out of work at noon yesterday and went out in the 'hood for a repast of oysters and clams! Heading out to NJ in a bit..don't like this part....dragging weekend clothes and gifts through subways and bus station! And then the bird awaits me! And the two NY Football teams play each other....probably knocking one if not both out of the playoffs! But Merry we will be..if not serene....maybe New Year's? Valentine's Day? In the words of Tiny Tim and Charles Dickens.....God bless us everyone! And send us to Paris!

Joyeux Noel from snowy Canada to all my friends on OPF. I'm always amazed at how the internet has brought us all together from all over the world to share in our love of Paris and to encourage each other throughout the year at whatever is important to each of us. The people of this board are so generous with sharing their thoughts, experiences and suggestions and I love to pop in several times a day to see what's going on with my friends.
We have a pretty busy Christmas coming up ~ spending Christmas eve with Danielle, Paul, and Seb because Paul has to work tomorrow. Danielle is a little sad that she won't share Christmas morning with her new hubby this year, so we will also be there tomorrow morning to share in the joy of seeing Seb open up his gifts from Santa (I think this may be the last year he believes, so we can't miss this). We were going to have my family over for Christmas dinner, but my mom fell and fractured her leg on Wednesday afternoon so we are bringing Christmas to her tomorrow. Doing all our cooking today so we just have to heat stuff up in her little apartment kitchen. It will be a little crowded with 16 people at her place, but that's what families are for, right?
Lots to look forward to in 2012 ~ a new grandson in February, our trip to Paris with Seb in May and our 30th wedding anniversary, which will probably be celebrated back in the Greek islands in September. I am truly grateful for everything we have, especially a healthy and happy family.
Happy Holidays, everyone and thanks for letting me be a part of this wonderful community.
Jo

Joyeux Noel everyone !!! We find it hard to believe that it s Christmas, hardly any decorations in streets or shops in DC compared to what we are used to seing in France and especially in Strasbourg. But we re glad and grateful to be here, the whole family reunited in the USA

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!
After a week of rain, the sun and heat have reappeared. It's a deliciously sunny 28 deg.C here (that's a balmy 82F) and it feels like summer - lol.
Santa finally granted my wish of finding me a dining suite that I liked. It's been ordered and now the wait is on.
The best part of this gift to myself is that now I can go crazy buying table linens and other tableware when I next get to Paris ... it's all about the gift that keeps on giving. ;D

Merry Christmas from a very un-snowy yet cold part of Canada. We have Andrew, Bhumi and the new grand daughter Syah over for Christmas Eve and most of Christmas Day. So, our wee house is full to overflowing just like my tummy as we had our big festive dinner tonight instead of tomorrow. Turkey, sprouts, mashed and roast potatoes, roast sweet potato and parsnips with stuffing in the cavity and haggis in the neck end. A nice light snack which we followed up with Bumbleberry pie and Xmas pud with custard.
I better go now as I can feel my coronary arteries slamming shut. I wonder if that is why the Duke of Edinburgh is in hospital?Too much Xmas pud and mince pies? Old Lizzie being a bit too liberal with the Birds Custard powder?
Have a Great Xmas every one and when you go to sleep may visions of Eiffel Towers dance in your head.

Wishing everyone a most marvelous day!
Anne, I hope you and your family have a spectacular visit to New York. Don't miss the windows at Bergdorf Goodman (58th &5th) for holiday decorations. Not traditional, but stunning.

Merry Christmas to all from me too. We have just had two days of celebration as we do the traditional Danish Christmas Eve with goose , etc. there were eight of us with children and grandchildren. Then this morning we had the early rising for Christmas gifts, a Christmas Brunch with ham and smoked fish and several other items like hummus and eggplant and cheeses for the vegetarians. Added four more people so we were twelve. Now getting ready for leftovers before son and family drive back to Maryland.
Anne, hope you are enjoying everything and storing lots of wonderful memories.
Now we have the countdown to 2012. So Happy New Year to all, as well.

I hope the decorations are better I'm at the airport-- it's been a crazy and wonderful day with the kids and grand kids this morning, but we made it here in time. Our flight boards in 20 minutes and we'll be winging it to Paree!

Thank you Shoesy! For this part of NON snowy Canada, we have celebrated Christmas eve with hubby's extended family, Christmas day with my extended family and Boxing day, again with hubby's extended family. It is always great to see everyone. So far this season, I've received two gifts of money. This will be deposited in the Paris account I opened last month for my trip in 2013. I hope to begin in London and also visit Strasbourg. I will have plenty of time with the fun of planning. It is never too soon to begin keeping notes.
