I convinced my husband that we NEEDED to book a trip to Paris in January. THANK YOU AA FF Miles!!!! (and my husband's trips to Japan that earned them) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D As you can see he agreed.
Jan 13 - 21. I can't believe it!!!!!! My friends and family think I am CRAZY. But you, my people, you understand...
Ahhh! Let the planning begin. I am going to have to restrain myself as this trip has to be on the cheap. So cheap things to do indoors in Jan in Paris are welcome. Already up are some re-visits to my favorite museums. And of course the food.
Happygoin this is all your fault. ;D

This is blame I'm willing to live with, Sis. There is nothing more fun than anticipating a trip to Paris. And the best part of this one is that you don't have long to anticipate! Woohoo! PS. Will you stay in "my" apartment??

That's great sister !!! As for cheap options, the SALES start on Jan 11. If it's on sales then it's cheap, right ?...

I am ALWAYS trying to convince the Mister that the Paris apt would be a sound investment.... Yes Anne, shopping is an indoor sport, and since things will be on sale that qualifies as a bargain! Apartment shopping now (although I should be working). I may return to "my" canal apt...need those stairs to exercise off all the food I plan to eat. Wheeeeeeee! (I'm not excited in the least)

Awesome!! and so close too ~ what a great Christmas present.
Ah, to be in Paris during les soldes (well, to be in Paris anytime, lol). Shop til you drop and then go find a great place to eat and drink.
You guys should try Au Passages in the 11th, I think you would love it.
Joyeux Noel to you both!
Jo

Sis, not near where you'll probably be staying, but Le Bistro des Gastronomes in my 'hood is getting really good press recently (10 rue Cardinal Lemoine; 01.43.54.62.40). I hope to try it out while we're there over New Year's--I'll let you know.

Looked in Le Bistro de Gastronomes when we were staying nearby . It looked really great, unfortunately it was closed that day and we were too lazy to make the trip back there by the end of the days. It is a definite for next time. It is on facebook too

Denise, I would love to have coffee with you! Will be in touch. I'm still not 100% sure that Jim will be able to come...he MIGHT have to work. But we are hoping that he can make it, and given that, I booked "my" apartment in the 10th, overlooking the canal. The owner gave me a great deal since I am a returning renter ;D So hopefully we will both be there...Jim lived in Bristol for a year so perhaps he'll join us for coffee and you two can talk English... I will add the Bistro de G to my EVER growing list Annette...whew! I could tell you all that there is no feeling in the world like the feeling one has when one realizes that there is a Paris trip in the works...I feel sorry for those who don't get it. You all do which is why I love you all...

There's nothing like an upcoming trip to put you in a good mood. :-) So true! But at the same time, it can make one a little grumpy from the stress, too! I'm leaving Christmas night and there is WAY too much to do between now and then! On top of all the usual stuff, my daughter and her family (yes, my grandbabies!) are moving across the country and I'm helping them pack

Sis and Denise...I think it is especially good because after the Holidays one is prone to think.."So now what?" More winter weather that's what! But we have a better "what?"! ;D I have to wait longer but it will be woyth it...and I can travel with you while I wait! Oh goodness Annette....where are they moving to? That must be hard...but you can visit and stop here! Just think of Paris, think of Paris......

They're not going quite as far away as you are, Geordy, but plenty far enough! They're going to Des Moines! Job transfer, Rick is already there. Van misses Daddy terribly. The house they've rented is maybe 5 minutes from Sandy, so that gives me a little comfort I will be a frequent visitor to Iowa PS--Sandy, Rick's car battery died yesterday, and he *almost* called you...but he got it figured out
