This was where I stayed for our Orient Express engagement trip in March. Easily the best place I've stayed in in Paris, possibly anywhere. Gorgeous, individually styled, big and homely rooms, 2 steps to the Seine and Notre Dame, wonderful fresh breakfasts, friendly people, fantastic traditional food. All for about 90euro a night. I challenge you to do better! Cheers Jools Attachments:

Glad you found "my hotel" - my home away from home while in Paris. Love the Degres and it's so nice that the same staff is there each time I have returned!! The location is the best in my opinion. You had a bargain at 90 euro as the single that I have rented is 95 euro - maybe they lowered their prices since I was there last?? Anyway, it is a great little hotel and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I didn't stay there last May when in Paris and I missed staying there - for various reasons, I stayed in the Montmartre area which I enjoyed but I did miss being at the Degres!

It's a real gem isn't it?
The only minor snag are the stairs to the penthouse room, still worth it though.
Montmartre's great too, but I prefer the proximity to the river and centre myself.

A gem to be sure - at least for me - and for you also. I love the location, "my" room which is the only single room they have and happens to be on the first floor which is imperative for me without a lift available. Just love this little place - feel so at home there! I have stayed at a couple of other hotels and in October will try staying in an apartment but no matter where else I stay, my heart is still at the Degres!

Not really a Montmartre girl yet, eh Sandy ?? Well, we'll se about that in October !! Shoesy and I walked by Les Degres in May and I agree it's a super location, quiet yet in the middle of "things".

I've seen it when we've gone to Le Reminet for dinner. Heard the restaurant is very good. Will have to give it a try. Too bad there is no elevator . My old legs wouldn't make it above the first flight of stairs

I also walked by that hotel in 2009 after Shlomo and I had dined in Le Reminet. We actually stopped in front of it to have a look at our map, and a really nice guy peeked his head out of the window and asked if we needed help. We politely replied that we were fine, but then I suddenly noticed the sign and understood that it was Sandy's hotel. I then mentioned that my friend from Iowa always stayed there, and he immediately smiled and said that he knew her very well. ;D

Yes, the food is great. The creme brulee is really good in particular. Be warned though, some of the starter portions are enormous! (by UK standards anyway)
The other restaurant that was mentioned (The Reminet was it?) is that the one on the opposite corner?

I should have posted on here really but was so sure a friend would snap it up that I didn't think of it, and it came with a ticket to Rock en Seine. What's wrong with people eh?
By the way, how do I get notified of new posts to threads I comment on here?
