It as been reported that monsieur et madame Obama will spend an extra night in Paris (June 6 & 7). They will not go to the Elysée but he did promise a "nice" diner to Michelle.....
WHere do you think they will go? Tour Eiffel? Tour d'Argent?
Anyway it will be a security nightmare so I am sure we will find out after the fact.

Oh dear, this is going to cause a right wing fire storm!
Michelle is really into local foods so I guess that will influence the choices.

Um....Buffalo Grill? Hippopotamus? Clez Clement? It's tough to NOT eat locally this time of year in Paris...the late spring/early summer is bringing all kinds of wonderful goodies, all grown not very far away.

Anyone eaten at Perraudin? I was just reading about it earlier on a food blog then got an email from a friend who is in Paris with her father. She said it was great and inexpensive for what you got. It's a short walk from where we are staying later this year.
BTW, I want this particular friend to adopt me. She takes her parents to eUROPE JUST ABOUT EVERY YEAR ON SEPERATE TRIPS. THIS IS HER DAD'S FIRST TIME TO Paris and France and he is already planning his next trip with her mother!
Excuse the caps, I'm too tired to correct!

The firestorm about Obama taking Michelle to a show and dinner in NYC was disgusting. Can't imagine what will get said about staying two extra days in Paris. Although I would bet the Obamas pay for their own meals, etc. they will still be criticized for the secret service and security expenses.
You wonder if the press and ultra conservatives ever take down time.

So right , holger, And no one ever complained about GW;s 77 trips and more than 1/3 of his presidency spent in Crawford and the cost of that, in monentary means.
Did you notice he hasn't been to Crawford since he moved to Dallas. Actually I loved living in Dallas but I lived in the same neighborhood as his new home and my old neighbor told me it;s a pregnant dog now!

Yes, I will keep my eyes out too for Barack and Michelle this weekend (also the Annette (dripping in jewels likely) and her hubby)! Likely I may see added security here and there at times during those days? Speaking of added security..we were going to see the Notre Dame...but noticed some of the area near the Notre Dame somewhat cordoned off by police and saw a series of large buses with curtained windows...and remembered what I read yesterday..that there would be a memorial service for the families, etc. of the AirFrance accident at @ 4:30 p.m.. Sad to see those buses with closed (usually) curtains drive off and know what it signifies.

Just to remind everyone, it is the automatic pro-board systems that is doing the auto-censuring, not ourparis moderators! We do not have any control over that function it come as is with the package.

Obama is driving Sarkozy nuts. First, he refused to come if the Queen was not invited (they settled on Prince Charles) and now the French President is still waiting for Obama's itinerary. He has demanded some alone time and is not sure that he'll be accorded any. I LOVE Obama. I LOVE that he is driving Sarko mad.
As for the Paris meal, Obama travels with his own food and water for security reasons, so I am betting that their dinner destination will remain a surprise to event he chef himself, until the last minute.
Finally, the whole Notre Dame thing. The AF crash was a tragedy. We are all sad. But I am fully annoyed that they chose to do a "nondenominational" service in a church. If that is not your religion, it is very hard to feel spiritual surrounded by Jesus, Mary and a myriad of crosses. We have the Pantheon for funerals of state. It is LAIQUE and would have been the appropriate venue. More proof that France is so engrained in the Catholic church, it can't even see itself. Sorry if this sounds negative. I love France, but lost the rose tinted glasses ages ago.

A friend of a friend took us on an informal tour of the US Embassy this morning. She said they are down to a skeleton crew this week as everyone is out preparing for Obama's visit. She tried to get us into the US Ambassador's residence too, but couldn't because they are preparing for a big whoopdie do there when the Pres. arrives. Humpf...they didn't invite us! But our gracious hostess gets to go, along with her 5 year old daughter. I thought it was very nice that they are inviting the Embassy employees and their families to meet with the Obamas. Cybee, we were walking near Notre Dame after the service also, and walked along Rivoli toward our apartment behind a large group of AF employees. They were very somber (naturally).
