I just discovered and joined this forum. I am a long time SlowTrav member. We live in San Francisco, my husband is a San Francisco native. We visited Paris in 1995 for the first time - our planned 7 days turned to 12, we liked Paris so much. Our next trip to Europe was a return to Paris for a month in 1997, renting an apartment on avenue de Suffren. Loved it. Returning many times for various length of time, we were last in Paris in 2008 for three months starting April 26th, renting an apartment in the 9eme. Our next trip is planned for this October for a month, renting an apartment in the 3rd arron., very close to place des Vosges. Looking forward to sharing and learning here.

Hi! You've come to the right forum. We're so happy you found us, even though some of us are going to be green with envy when they read about all the time you spend in Paris. ;D

Hi Dena, sorry I'm late in offering a welcome. What an experience for a youngster to spend so much time in France! We have several members in your area so maybe you can all get together and talk Paris some day

Thank you Shoesy and AnnetteC. Still getting used to the forum. We missed going to Europe this spring/summer . Having some much needed home renovations done instead. Hoping that the current project gets done before we leave for Paris. We are getting excited about Paris this fall - two months to go.

Merci beaucoup to all the welcomes! Jody, we are arriving on the 21st from SFO. We'll need a few days to get settled - we are not exactly spring chickens anymore. Congrats to your upcoming 48th anniversary. We will celebrate our 39th anniversary five days later. ;D Who said longevity in marriage is dead?

Welcome, "Just Travel". Ms. L. and I met you and your husband for drinks at Pl. Gustave Toudouze while you were staying at the Douai aparment. We are not as active here or on SlowTrav as in the past, but with your wealth of Paris info you could be an excellent source for the regulars here.
If my memory serves, you are quite a cook and Paul prefers your cooking to the restaurant scene and you have an intimate knowledge of the markets serving home cooks. I think there are several OPF members who stay in apts. and enjoy cooking and could benefit from your expertise acquired through the years.
This Fall we will spend Sept. and October exploring Corsica for 3 weeks, then a few weeks in Tuscany with our oldest daughter and SIL, before settling back in Paris for the remainder of October where we will celebrate our 40th anniversary.
Perhaps you can persuade your friend "Americana" to join us here with her wonderful insights gleaned from so many years residing in Paris.

I'd love to hear about Corsica and your other adventures. It would be great to meet you at the Oct 18 GTG if you'll be around then--we just missed you last time. JustTravel--I'm looking forward to any and all knowledge you care to impart on us Paris-obsessed forumites

Hello Everyone!
I've been lurking around for the past few weeks, feeding my Paris habit. So, I decided to join up because you all sound like my kind of people (people who *really* like Paris)!
I've been to Paris twice now (both trips in the last year) and I loved it. Every second. I'm a solitary traveller but hopefully going to be able to convince people to come to Paris with me soon (the idea that people need to be convinced to go to Paris makes the mind boggle...)
Looking forward to sharing what little I know and learning as much as possible! =)
A x

Welcome Aric! Feel free to join in the conversation--we love hearing about others' Paris experiences. And yeah....having to "convince" anyone to go to Paris is pure craziness!

Thank you AnnetteC and luckyluc!
I am a notorious lurker on various forums (not for any bad reasons...) but I really like the atmosphere here, there's no opinion left unnoticed and no flaming or nastiness that I've seen (which is rare on a huge majority of forums these days). So, I joined.
I realised I had no choice but to join after I bookmarked OurParis and visited daily... =D
