p.s. Scotland is one of my favorite countries! May I ask what part of that lovely country you live in?

Perhaps you can persuade your friend "Americana" to join us here with her wonderful insights gleaned from so many years residing in Paris. I would love Americana to join us, I've told her about us (indeed, I told all of Slow Travel France about us in the last few days). She was responsible for getting us our reservation for dinner at Spring in May and she is so funny, kind and knowledgeable, she would be a great addition to OPF. Welcome to all the new posters, we can't wait to pick your brains and hear all about your trips! Jo

p.s. Scotland is one of my favorite countries! May I ask what part of that lovely country you live in? Darcy: I live in Dundee at the moment, frantically trying to finish my M.Litt. But, I grew up in Kirkcaldy, Fife (home of Adam Smith, Linoleum and current UK PM Gordon Brown). I like it here but I think that I'm hardwired to travel. A lot. The T-shirt in my avatar (taken at Beauvais as I was leaving, hence the sad face) reads 'Citizen of the Planet' - and that's my motto. ;D

Hello, aric and good luck with your exams. I too love Wuthering Heights, I may just pick it up again when I finsih wading through my many new Paris books. I found one on my desk that I received a few weeks ago and haven't even cracked yet. My desk is a bit of a clutter!!

jo, you are the reason I joined. I was wracking my brain about the apartment in the 11th because I remembered seeing it before (of course in one of your posts).

Congrats to your upcoming 48th anniversary. We will celebrate our 39th anniversary five days later. ;D Speaking of anniversaries, Shlomo and I just "celebrated" our 37th last Friday.......on the plane from N.Y. to Israel. ;D At one point, I awoke and realized that it was the next day, August 14th (it was a night flight), and I turned to Shlomo and said "Happy Anniversary", wishing both of us another 37 years together . A moment later, it occurred to me that in another 37 years my darling hubby will be 100 and I will be 97 !!!

"......before settling back in Paris for the remainder of October where we will celebrate our 40th anniversary."
Laidback, sure I remembered you and the Mrs. We will be in Paris as well towards the last third of October. We will be staying in the 3rd arron. We will be celebrating our 39th then too.
Maybe we can organize a GTG with Americana.

DYHGT is the abbreviation for my personal blog, Defining Your Home, Garden and Travel.
Retired from a career in marketing and technology, I am now a freelance garden and travel writer. My husband is also retired from the same company and has a similar background, though his passion is playing music.
I have been traveling all of my adult life and celebrated my 21st birthday in Moscow (USSR back then) and 36th in Athens, Greece. Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Spain, the Caribbean and the US are other travel destinations. My husband and I have done most of our traveling in the UK, Italy and France.
Paris is our favorite city and we were there in May 2009 and June 2001. We were in the south of France in 2008 and will be back (based in Antibes) in 2010 and were in Provence in 2002. In between, we vacationed in the UK or Italy.
I look forward to enjoying and sharing experiences on your Paris Forum.
Thank you, Cameron

Welcome to the forum, Cameron! If you love Paris, you're definitely in the right place! I'll have to check out your blog--we're in the process of relandscaping our place...maybe I can get some ideas.
