I have somewhere to live - I am a bit numb on how much the rent is - a frightening amount of NZD $ but I guess that is what it is over there as I have been scouring the rental pages and although this is a wee bit more expensive than my plan it is in a fantastic location, very safe, clean and tidy so you pay for that !
We had to grab it as there were 5 people wanting it and the relocation agents that I have been using had first right of refusal. They look at places all the time for expats and people shifting and they thought it was a good place - there was no relationship between the landlord and the agency as well as I actully heard about the flat independently and told them about it. I will post photos when I can but this is a little bit about it
" We visited the apartment that you sent through yesterday, it really is lovely. The area is very good with the village of St Johns just 2 miles away, Woking 10mins by car and Guilford 15 mins by car. There is a railway station with links into Waterloo London from Woking or Brookwood which is about a 8min drive. The apartment itself has a lounge/diner with a kitchen leading through to a separate bedroom and shower room. The rooms are an extremely good size for a one bedroom apartment. You have a hallway leading to a door into the garden which you can use (it does need some tlc however the owners are having it landscaped in the near future)! "!
Photos to come - and I only have to have two weeks in temp accom ! YAY

OK as we say here "I must have been asleep at the wheel". wasn't paying attention thought you were moving to Paris. Country side UK now I am jealous. That comes in third on my list. Paris France UK outside London How many flats in building? but I was being curious as to where you were moving so did a search by the stations you mentioned. found this site www.ukstation.com/southern-england/weather on this page www.ukstation.com/south-east-england/brookwood-station.htm links to attractions, shops, etc. LOL I want to know how the suitcases got up above the door?

Only one flat in building - it is annexed to the owners house with a fairly young couple and a child living in it
I too have wondered about the suitcases !! ha ha

Hey Megan, nice apartment! The first thought I had when I saw the suitcases on the shelf, was that is a small guest bedroom. At least you will provide a lovely garden for pitching the "guest tent".

Great apt, Megan! It's a good thing you jumped on it, I'm sure the next person would have taken it if you hadn't.

Megan, I like the look of that - modern and light and airy, but with a bit of garden space. I think you'll enjoy it very much (and as you will be able to budget very precisely, you can put away those pounds for Paris!)

That looks lovely Megan ! And you can always invest in a cheap reclinable sofa for visiting guests to replace the existing sofa (or maybe this IS already a reclinable sofa under the orange cover ?)

OMG - I never even thought about that Denise - they will be mortified. Its probably a huge invasion of privacy. I think I had better remove. . Now I am in a state - I will take off in the morning ! Yikes

Ah, don't worry, Megan -- it's only some wet clothing on the radiator -- and no one knows WHOSE laundry it is!
Congratulations on your lovely flat -- it's light and airy, and the garden looks like it has excellent potential.

Congratulations Megan, you have chosen a very nice area. My youngest son lives in Knaphill which has to be very close to where you describe. He loves Guildford where he does most of his shopping, it is listed as one of the best places to live in UK.

Congratulations Megan, you have chosen a very nice area. My youngest son lives in Knaphill which has to be very close to where you describe. He loves Guildford where he does most of his shopping, it is listed as one of the best places to live in UK. That must be why the yearly rent is equivalent to a small plot of land in NZ - still waking up in cold sweats about the price of the rent. Anyhow moving on.......... It is very close to Knaphill - in fact I was looking at Knaphill as well . So if your son sees a slightly dazed, short, "rubenesque: , curly haired Kiwi wandering around Guildford weighed under by lots of shopping that she doesn't really need tell him to say HI . Odds are it will be me ! This apartment is in St Johns in Woking and I have just checked on the map and St John appears to be the "suburb" right next to Knaphill - great connections to London - 20 mins to Waterloo then the tube to Harrods or Burlington Arcade to get Laduree Macarons . Just quietly that is exciting me the most - there will always be space in the budget for Macarons !

You've got the right attitude, Megan! The electricity and water will stop running before you stop indulging in macarons from Laduree!
