Speaking of greetings, welcomes, birthdays, etc.
When is our official anniversary?
I would consider it the day the first post.
and I see we are getting close to 200 members which would also be a day of celebration. ;D

Penny, it may already have passed - I joined last May and I seem to recall that there were posts going back to at least March 2007. But you're certainly right about the 200 member mark!
Also, I see we are approaching 25,000 total posts! Yay for all of us!

I started the forum on March 13, followed by LuckyLuc on the 14th. Apparently, we just talked to each other for a few days until Phread joined us on March 17th. And then there was a small influx of new members around the end of March. By the first of May, we had 17 members.
I registered the domain name "OurParisForum.com" on May 24, so I think it makes sense to consider the 24th as the official anniversary.
Any ideas about how to celebrate?

How about if we choose a specific hour on a particular day for all the members to stop whatever they're doing and think about (or toast ) everone else on the forum for one minute? Just the idea of all of us thinking about each other at the same moment could be wonderful. The only problem, of course, would be finding a suitable hour for everyone because of the time differences. As we know, midnight for Americans on the East Coast would be 5:00 A.M. in the U.K. Is that too late/early for those respective forumists?

That would be 9 pm for those of us on the west coast--good for me! How about if we take Shoesy's suggestion one step further, and have everyone log on at that time so we can break the record of "most users online" (200 on April 3, 2008, 4:57pm)? Then we can have a HUGE LIVE CHAT while we're toasting! Hey, a live online toast!

Wow - Annette, your idea is awesome! I would love to see that kind of chat. But, tell me......would so many people logging in at the same time create some kind of overload/screw-up for the forum?

Yikes! - I've just conjured up an image of dear Grndma in the UK, after being called in to work the graveyard shift . She's in the middle of delivering twins , and then takes a look at the clock, tells the mom to stop pushing, and then our frantic midwife rushes out of the delivery room to log onto a computer. ;D

;D ;D ;D So funny Shoesy!!!!! Exalt for that. I'd just have to make sure I was not in nights that day, but would it be the 5am on 24th in Uk or 5am on 25th, are we in front of you? I don't want to get up in the middle of the night and find nobody is there! Denise Love from England at 7.46 on 30th April 2008 local time

Lol this could get confusing! I'm thinking around 10pm UK time would make that 5pm east coast, 2pm west coast, 8-10am Australia/Nz.....mmmm Shoesy would that be 12 midnight with you?

;D ;D ;D Hey I know this is not the subject, but I've just noticed I've been promoted to Junior Member!! ;D Thanks folks. Andiandgaz 10pm Uk etc would make us all logging in ON the 24th except the Australians and others in the southern hemisphere right? They would be logging on in the morning of the 25th. This sound like a brilliant idea, but I have to know soon then I can request the shift off. Denise Love from England

We would definitely have to decide on the best time for everybody so that nobody would have to wake up in the middle of the night. Actually, midnight Paris time could also be a possibility (and I would make sure that I stay up 'till 1:00 A.M. since I'm an hour later). Anyway, we would definitely need to specifically state the exact time and date it would be for the various parts of the world because while many forumists may be Paris experts, talented photographers and/or computer geniuses, there's always the possibilty that some of us are mathematically challenged ;D, and we certainly want wouldn't want any mistakes to occur after all that planning.

Yes, Shoesy, good idea...and you might post it in a very conspicuous place on the forum. In case someone misses this thread.

Bear in mind May 24 falls in the middle of the Memorial Day weekend here in the USA. Some folks could be vacationing away from their computers. If I'm away it would most likely be at my brother's....my family would just chalk it up to my Paris "other life"! As to the times...I guess it should be May 24 EST as that what Tru is on. Personally I'll celebrate the anniversary, 200 members, and my join date! (Any excuse for a party! )

The date, of course, doesn't have to be May 24th if it means that some Americans would be away from their computers on that day.

I did my "curious minds want to know" thing and searched for a world clock. The site below is awesome, you can make personal settings, such as how you want time to appear, set cities you visit often (mentally ), suitable time to call between cities, etc. www.timeanddate.com/For current time- Home, Current Time, The World Clock Time Zones, this will bring back a list of major cities and current time. example of specific: Location Local time Time zone Independence (U.S.A. - Missouri) Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 12:15:00 PM (Noon) UTC-5 hours CDT Paris (France) Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 19:15:00 UTC+2 hours CEST Corresponding UTC (GMT) Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 17:15:00 So run your time zone against Paris and see what range might work. from my calculation it looks like 20:00 (8PM) Paris which would be 11 AM US West Coast time would be good once a date is decided

May 24 would be an excellent choice for me, I can log in while I'm (supposed to be) packing for France/Paris!
