Mais non! Our Truffaut is far more debonair than Bruce Willis. Truffaut, you wear the tuxedo very well. Will look forward to learning when the show is on so I can watch it.

I can't believe that with all the excitement of that unbelievable cake and our dear Truffy in his exquisite tuxedo, I forgot to comment on the fact that $125,000 had been raised. Congratulations on such a wonderful accomplishment for a very good cause!!!

Thank you, Shoesy. In all the angst and fun of producing an event, it's often easy to forget the real reason it's all happening. On the way to work today, I heard traffic reports (DC has the nation's worst traffic jams, second only to LA) about a backup caused by a pedestrian fatality. When I arrived at work, most others were complaining about it, too. Only a few hours later, we learned that it was one of our program participants with mental retardation who was hit and killed on her way to work. Technically, it was probably her fault, but we still don't know what happened. These people face so many obstacles in daily life, and it's all too easy to forget that the simple act of crossing a street is filled with complicated decisions that some people find difficult. Far from being a downer, however, this occurence just gives me more reason to raise money to provide the supports and training necessary for these people to live safe, happy and productive lives. Whatever PR we gain from "The Ace of Cakes" will only continue to raise public awareness about these many challenges. And when the public sees the faces of my friends Brian and Mark as they ogle the cake, I think more than a few hearts will be moved!

Very sorry to hear about that tragic accident, Truffaut. I'm well aware of how difficult life is for people who are mentally and/or physically challenged since I have a niece who is handicapped. She has come a long way over the past 17 years, thanks to the love and support she has received ever since she was born. It's amazing how much such people can achieve if they are given the proper help and guidance.

OK, folks, we have a date! Pending a last-minute change by the producers, the episode will air on July 17. The only problem, of course, is that I will be in Paris on that day and won't get to see it

Cool! I wonder if I can set my Tivo for that far ahead--I don't want to forget! It's somehow fitting since the show will air that close Bastille Day, that you should be in Paris.

Truf, thanks for the photos ---don't know which looked better the cake or you in the tux!
But more importantly ---thank you for all of the work that you do for individuals that have special needs. As a teacher who works with children with special needs that are integrated into the mainstream classroom I really understand the importance of the work that you do and the numerous challenges that they face.
Thank you

Say it isn't so,, July 17th , a date, and I won't be able to see it as I will be in Venice ( ok, admit that was fun to type, but sentiment is sincere, I AM dissappointed!) . I live in the dark ages( for those who don't know me , for the others, I am sure no one is surprised to know we do not have tivo, or even a DVD recorder, just an old VCR, that I do NOT know how to program!) .
They do reruns those right??
