I never said innocent, Shoesy. I think that Gitte has put her share of dish detergent in the village fountain...

Actually, she probably also put in the shares of a number of us who don't have village fountains!

Hi Sistereurope! Thanks for the special welcome. Actually, when I saw your location I looked at your profile and noticed your birthday was just a few days before mine. Doesn't 50 sound weird? Who could ever think of me as being 50--not me, that's for sure! Do you feel the same way? I only just started openly admitting my age...I feel like I am still 25 dagnabbit! It is nice to hear you love the 11th. I have only heard good things about it so far. Of course, where we will be staying is just on the border of the 20th. I feel like being outside the more touristy areas will make for a greater adventure. I live right outside Baltimore (so we're kinda neighbors) AND I will be 50 in September 2008 (the 22nd) AND I love the 11th...so I wanted to extend a special welcome to you!! Hi Truffaut--thanks for the Paris beach recommendation...I had heard about it but I didn't know they had a floating swimming pool! Now we may pay a visit--otherwise, I was feeling like being at a beach in the heat and not being able to swim was going to be like dying of thirst and sitting at a spring I am not allowed to drink out of. Hi Geordy--I'm glad you like my name. I wanted something evocative and although I am no longer a ballerina (like Shoesy is!) I fancined myself one when I was a tot. Still, who says you have to be a ballerina to wear a tutu--right? Hope everyone is having a great day.

yes redtutu, I try not to act my age whenever possible, causing all kinds of eye-rolling from our 3 teens - why, I was just one of those myself (it doesn't help that they go to MY old high school!) Anyway, I sent you a pm to say hello so I'm glad you found this thread. I do love the 11th - I have a good friend who lived there and still prefers to hang out there. There are a lot of great off-the-usual-tourist path bistros/bars/ restaurants near you - you're gonna have a blast (and feel like it's 1976 all over again )

Hi redtutu -- if you think 50 is weird, just give it another 8 or 9 years!

Nope, tutus are Fab..I think you should all wear one for your 50th!!! Moi, I was in Paris for that event and have a memory of dancing about with champagne on our hotel room balcony in a sexy gold nightie(B'day gift from one of my sisters...gold for 50! I was also wearing a gold halo...actually part of the gold wrapping from another gift! (I had celebrated the BIG day with family before leaving for Paris!)

While you young ones (not even 50 ) are talking about tutus, I'm wearing my leotard and tights because I just came back from my ballet class. I hope you "little girls" don't think I'm too old for you.

Geordy that is WONDERFUL! Hey, you just made me think of something--they have the Red Hat Club for (I think) people over 50--we could have a Red (or whatever your favorite color is) Tutu Club for Paris Addicts over 50! And ditto Happygoin--nobody would want to see me in a leotard--I am positive Shoesy looks lots better than I would.

That's a great idea...turn turning 50 into something fun and fabulous. Can you just see all of us 50 something (and above!)women parading around Paris in June in our tutu's? WooHOO!
