Thank you so much for the welcome, Becky! I have seen (from TA and here) that you are a huge sweetheart just like Shoesy. Thanks, also, for your offer of help. I am sure I will have a zillion questions between now and vacation time.

Hi red -- I agree that Shoesy is a sweetheart, but I've never thought of myself that way (mostly, I just make a conscious effort on TA to try to sound reasonable in order to balance the people who are flaying the innocents!). So, ssshhhhh -- please don't tell anyone!

Thanks, Shoesy and everyone for the encouragement. I also feel a little shy since I've only been to Paris twice. My husband and I went for our 25th anniversary and then again for our 30th in May (although 1 1/2 years late.!) We loved it both times and can't wait to go again.
Chatting and lurking (yes, I do) here has been a way to extend my Paris experience. It is definitely a city that feels exciting and livable at the same time. And this forum is a valentine to Paris!

Tutu, Since your husband's a beach kind of guy, why not treat him to a day at Paris' inland beach along the banks of the Seine. The city trucks in millions of tons of sand and covers over the highways flanking the river. They bring in palm trees, volleyball courts, etc. There's even a swimming pool that floats in the Seine. It's quite the scene.
And by the way, what DC suburb. Kensington, MD here.

Hi you guys! You can't imagine how nice it is to wake up to all of those sweet things you've written about me. I've just read an e-mail informing me that my best friend in N.Y. can't attend my daughter's wedding because she'll be having surgery a few days before, and if she doesn't have it then, it will have to be postponed 'till December, which is not an option. Needless to say, I'm devastated.

Hi Shoesy,
I'm sure I speak for us all in wishing your friend a safe and speedy recovery. Will you get to see her when you're here?

That is a shame Shoesy....some of my sister's closest friends couldn't make it to her daughter's wedding because of a change in circumstances....hope your friend does fine.
To the newcomers without alot of Paris experience , I've been many, many times and learn something new about Paris practically every day! And want to learn more from anyone who wants to share! And yoginia the fact that you went solo and had a "magical time"...I've used that expression more than a few times myself!...insures you'll fit right in !!
Love the "Redtutu" moniker!!

I will actually get to see my friend here in Israel ! She'll be arriving next week and will be teaching a course at Tel-Aviv University for several weeks. I'm really looking forward to spending some quality time with her.

Yeah, we don't bite. We even have nice doggies and kitties that don't bite...............except for my Muffy and Cinnamon. They DO bite me from time to time, but they don't realize that they're doing anything wrong. (A lot of good that does me!)

Well, some have been rumoured to bite, but we don't really believe that (we think it's just Shoesy's wild imagination ) and anyway, Gitte's on vacation (in Paris, without us -- can you believe it!) right now! ;D

Poor Gitte! I had her with bats in her belfry last week and now rumor has it, she bites! We should clarify that, although we pick on Gitte (ok, a lot!), she is perfectly harmless and an endless good sport about the teasing. Not to mention she has tremendous knowledge of Paris and is happily willing to share with anyone who asks.

And if you guys heard Gitte speak with her darling Danish accent, you would think she's the most innocent little sweetie-pie.
