I decided to start this thread just to convey the message that I am really looking forward to reading posts from EVERYBODY on the forum. I've noticed that how rapidly membership has grown, and I want every single one to know that all of us oldies can't wait to really get to know you. Please don't feel intimidated by the fact that you may see many of us engaging in familiar chit-chat. We've only gotten to know each other through the forum, and we look forward to reading friendly comments from everyone. Please feel free to joke around with us, send personal messages and join us in the chatroom. Believe me.........we can be a very lively bunch. And don't forget........WE ALL LOVE PARIS, so even if we have nothing else in common, we still have a lot to talk about. ;D ;D ;D

I completely agree! It's fun to see so many new members have joined, and I look forward to hearing from you all. Don't be shy! Any questions??? We're just hanging around, waiting to answer (and having fun chit chatting in the mean time)

I never really have a lot to say about Paris as I have only been twice so far, I do post thoughts if I have them on various subjects about it when I can, I too have built up my post tally with chit chat. This proves that you do not need to have a massive knowledge of our favorite city to get involved........We are a friendly global family now and everyone is welcome. Thank you for this thread shoesy. ;D

At this point, I'd like to add something that perhaps should have been said before. You may not know it from my 500+ posts, but at times I tend to be shy.

Thanks Shoesy, I'm new as of last night (Australia time) and I am 3 months out from my first trip to Paris. It feels like it's been a long time coming but we have 6 days and 7 nights in an apartment in Marais in mid October. There is so much I want to see and do, it's hard to decide what to do first! The thing I am looking forward to the most however is the people watching, wandering around and the food. p.s. I am shopping around for comfortable shoes for all the walking I'll be doing!

grunblack, October is a wonderful time to be in Paris. It was the month of my first trip as well. The weather is apt to be comfortably temperate for tourist activities. And, I promise you, the food will completely blow you away. Just amazing. As for your shoe shopping, we've all been there. It's SO hard to find that perfect pair that marries style with comfort. Oh and btw, welcome to the forum!

grunblack, you really will love being there in October -- among other things, if you like mushrooms and like to cook, go food shopping because that's prime mushroom season! Seriously, it's one of my favorite times to be there -- I will be one of many who think about you enviously!

Yes...I agree and hope that all newcomers jump in and join the discussion(s). We may tend to chatter off topic every now and then, but Shoesy's right - in the end we're all here because we LOVE Paris and we have no problem getting back around to chatting about that! I like to think that we're a welcoming bunch...at least we strive to be so. And the forum is organized in a way that everyone can choose a topic that appeals...or not. But we can also take criticism, so I hope that everyone feels welcome to say whatever's on his or her mind!

Hi grunblack - I strongly suggest you have more than one pair of comfortable shoes for Paris. Sometimes it does wonders to alternate shoes. I'm sure you'll be doing a lot of walking in Paris in October.

Sorry, SE..I couldn't resist. grunblack, Shoesy brings up an excellent point. On more than one occasion, when I thought I couldn't possibly take another step, I switched shoes and voila! I walked another 20 miles that day. It's to be expected that your feet will be tired. It isn't necessary to have blisters and unbearable pain.

Thanks for posting your message, Shoesy. Sometimes I find myself feeling a little bit intimidated and not wanting to jump in because I don't have any first-hand knowledge to add. But....after my first trip (notice I said "first" ;D) this October, I hope to be able to share my experiences and join in a bit more.

Hi dep! I've been to Paris twice, but I feel like I know so little compared to many other posters. We're not competing with each other of course - we're only sharing the experiences we've had. You have a lot to look forward to in October, and I'm sure that once you return, you'll be more than ready to plan your second trip. Until then you should feel free to ask other posters anything you want.

After October, you probably won't be able to shut me up! And I hope you all know how helpful your insight has been for me in my planning. Thank you all!!!!
