Everyone knows that there can be BIG differences between the Parisian weather and the forecasts about same weather. But I thought if we could pool all our weather-experiences together, we might get an overview. I am getting all depressed (sob, sob) because the forecasts say thunderstorms and "averses"/showers almost every day next week. So what should I believe ? How often does all-day rain happen in Paris, in your experience ? Should I bring rowingboat and rubberboots ? My personal statistics say: August 1973 + July 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006: sun from morning till evening, boiling hot, mostly dry, though humid/damp. Late May 2006: chilly, cloudy, occasional showers, sometimes sun Late October 2006: mild and warm for the season, occasional shower, surprisingly sunny. One cold, windy day only.

Gitte - I'm going to use all my divine powers to make sure you have good weather in Paris. Stop worrying, my dear.

Gitte -- the sun would not dare hide while you're in Paris (and if it does, just think "Umbrellas of Cherbourg" or "Singing in the Rain"!). I once had a trip to Paris in June when it rained at least a little every single day (and I had packed only sandals, no closed shoes at all) but I went out and had a good time anyway because, after all, I was in Paris! We'll think good thoughts, and it will rain only in the wee hours of the night when you're safely asleep!

I had extremely good luck (weather wise) on my April trip to London and Paris. app 70-75 F, sunshine every day. like the commercial- Hotel $xx. plane ticket $XX, weather priceless. Becky funny you should mention Umbrellas of Cherbourg, I had the pleasure of seeing/hearing Michel Legrand (composer of/for Umbrellas) in Fort Worth TX many years ago.

I don't know, in recent years I've had better weather in Paris. Years ago it rained all the time. My June trips have pretty much been hotter than hell with an occassional HEAVY shower!! Some times they have beeen well timed during what I like to call "rest period"..the space btw. daytime and night time activities!! Once it was right when we were heading to a cafe for a pre dinner aperitif...we all headed indoors, including a mouse! I spotted him and shrieked...everyone laughed! I was worried for the mouse as the place was packed and the waiters were stomping about in their heavy soled waiter shoes!!! Thankfully the rain stopped and all ended well. Curious Gitte, what sort of footwear are you taking to put on those pedicured feet? (remembering fondly the LONG shoe thread on a better TA) And what detective novels are coming along with you to be read on those special places/terrasses? ;D

I recall only a rare time or two when it has truly rained all day.

geordy: ooooh, my feet look SO good - soft like little babyfootsies. All I need now is to apply my newly bought GORGEOUS polish, colour: a pastel-shaded mix of brass/copper/rose. Then put these filmstar feet into a pair of totally unsexy, unfashionable size 8 Ecco-sandals......... World's greatest footwear, I could WALK to Paris in those. As to crime novels - I have a selection of Danish and Swedish ones. We are so fortunate that we have quite a few female crime novel-writers in Scandinavia who are really good, so I look forward to those. Have collected during last 6 months - and it has been hard not to peep....

Gitte - Can you really do a lot of walking in sandals? I own a pair of very comfortable sandals and they're great for spending a day at the mall here, but I can't imagine doing any serious Paris walking in them.

that's because your sandals are smart ones, mine are trekking type ugly sandals, look: I have one pair on black and one pair in off-white.

They DO look very comfy, Gitte, but I still think that many hours of walking in them would still give ME at least one itsy bitsy blister. Speaking of footwear, my dear, what are we going to wear when we have tea together at 1728?

I also have 2 pairs of veeerrrryyy smart thongs/flipflops with pearls and paillettes. One pair turquoise, one pair copper. They should do nicely for a cuppa tea......

Well, those turquoise flip flops will definitely match my wardrobe. I wear lots of that color, especially in the summer. In fact my everyday bag is that color, and I might even take it to Paris.

And it's a good thing that you clarified that your "thongs" are "flip-flops" or I might have thought that you were talking about sexy undies. ;D

- turquoise undies with pearls and paillettes ?? Do you think I aspire for the leading role in a dragshow or something ?? And could you imagine me in Eccos and turquoise paillette undies size 22 doing the Dance of the Seven Veils ?? Let me put it this way: if you can, you need to seek professional help.......NOW

Ha! When I was growing up , we always called our flip flops "thongs"! So I had to learn to revise that kind of talk once I had children and realized their horror when I used the "wrong term" ! ha! Well, GitteK..You will be harder to find in Paris not wearing a tourquoise thong with pearls or what not! ha!
I almost bought a pair of Ecco sandals such as you depicted for my last trip to Paris , but as it was in April I figured I did not need sandals...but glad to hear you find them comfy!

Hummm....not sure what to say about the sandals...as long as you are comfy and have those lovely toes peeping out! And the "thongs" sound nice ...we called them that in these parts too Cybee...I bought a fancy cheap pair when in Paris last Sept. after I got blisters in Amsterdam! (not wearing sensible sandals! , wandering jet lagged and lost in the ballet flats I wore on the plane!)
