Gitte, toward the bottom of the screen, there's a section called the "Information Center". In that section, there's a calendar. You can click on the calendar and see birthdays, as well as other dates that forum staff might choose to add. There's also a little box called "Today's Birthdays" that appears near the box that indicates which users are online.

Truffaut, I'm beginning to wonder if we all are looking at the same site! I can't find anything about an "information center" on my screen...any of the screens on the site, for that matter. And I don't know anything about two chat rooms either. Am I just a techno-loser???

Merci beaucoup! I had no idea the site announced birthdays, plus I'm stunned at the thought of dealing with another one! But let me share just one very good birthday (probably can't be topped): last year for my b-day we were in France and had a special dinner at the restaurant of Hotel l'Esplanade in Domme (one of my favorite places for many reasons). My husband had tipped off the staff, and they brought out a small "cake" (actually made of a very light mousse of some sort) with sparklers (like we used to set off on July 4 back before they all became illegal) in full display mode. That was fun and we were enjoying it while waiting for our coffee, when suddenly madame (who's at least well into her 70s, probably pushing 80, and rules the hotel with a kindly but iron hand) came to the table and sang "bonne anniversaire" (which we gathered must be a traditional French birthday song, since other diners obviously knew it). She had a lovely voice, and it was such a touching gesture that I really was just blown away. And let me say, happy, that if I ever start to "act my age" (whatever THAT means), it's time to "just shoot me"! Never have, never will -- determined to make it irrelevant! Thanks again, all, for the good wishes!

Thanks, Les -- since you teach (as well as speak) the language, I appreciate the gender-bender correction!

Yes, Happy, it´s on Sunday. 27 is not that bad, is it? I´m looking forward to it, we are going to our country house, have a barbecue, spend some time with my dearest ... and I also hope to gather some funds for my upcoming trip to Paris !!! ;D

Hi, Tereza. I was in Prague in 2000, and it is one of the few cities I've seen that I found to be as beautiful as Paris. We had a wonderful time there (despite staying in the Hotel Pyramida), and I'd love to return someday.

Oh Tereza...to be 27 again and know what I know now. No, 27 isn't bad at all! I envy you just a little. If I remember correctly, your birthday is on a weekend and, since I don't own a computer, I will not be able to wish you HB on your big day so I will do it now. I hope you have a lovely birthday and enjoy your BBQ with your beloved.

Truffaut: that´s a HUGE compliment for Prague! Thank you! Well - Hotel Pyramida wasn´t exactly good idea, I know what you are talking about.
