Not sure if this is on this one or guest apts, but...Since we on this forum are so much more sophisticated than on ta, has anyone stopped in at or perhaps stayed at this B&B? The ta reviews are fairly glowing but wanted a reality check. After looking at its website, the decorations look like they came from Pier 1, but that's just my opinion. And if anyone goes on their website what is a room built into another building, of which there are only a handful left in Paris? And why doesn't it have any windows? Is this an architectural place of note? I also like the fact, yes I read all the ta reviews, that one can purchase their silver so one can decorate their home in the same manner. Is it in actuality a sub rosa flea market?

I'll do a day trip.... The website is: www.maraishouse.com and the bedroom I was writing about is "inbricked' into the next building and according to the website one of 3 in medieval Paris. What is this 'inbricked"?

Ooh! Marais house is decidedly intriqueing! It does appear, as I read , to be "cross between a hotel particulier and a prestige bed & breakfast" ....posh and flamboyant!
I don't really know what inbricking means. Upon a google search, best I can glean is images of a rectangular horizontal brick look However, I don't know if that is what really defines "inbricking". I wonder the fact that it is inbricked into the next buidling means it shares a wall with or is attached to the neighboring building (and as you already know it is near the oldest home in Paris).

If I were guessing, I would think it means something like "built into" or similar. It's not unusual in some really old building that the living spaces spill into adjacent structures (i.e., the vertical walls don't necessarily define the inhabited space). I'm guessing that's what they mean (actually, you can see many places in Europe where similar things have happened - buildings were cobbled together, and then later split up again but not nessarily in an orderly way! (But it does make it interesting . . .)
It really does look like a wonderfully magical space! But, I find it a bit off-putting that there is no indication at all of the price range.

On the TA site it says that the average year-round price is 342 euros. Hmmmm.......kinda pricey, but it's obvious that a place like this wouldn't be cheap, to say the least.

Both properties play into fantasies, artistic or primarily fanciful in decor. They are truly interesting to look at. How comfortable to live in would be another question. But it was fun to look at both early this morning although I recall seeing them on the web before.

It does not appeal to me, too dark and looks like my grandmothers place .

This was one of the "featured "reviews on TA when I checked by there earlier. The latest not exactly glowing.
At any rate..at those prices I would expect glowing!

The only INBRICKED I know of took place in Edgar Allen Poe's A Cask of Amantilllado. Beware !

It's amazing!! I think one night would do it for me, just enough to get a feel but the I agree, I'd need an apartment with windows and lots of light and fresh air. Interesting that you can do your own photo shoot there....
