Hilton La Defense

Everyone was so negative over @ TA when I posted this, just wanna see the reactions here.

I'm staying @ Hilton La Defense over the holidays for about 9-10 nights.

I'm sorry, I know nothing about your hotel. Someone else will come along who will, I'm sure. But I'm wondering if, as a (self-described) skyscraper fanatic, you requested a room with a view of it, if possible.

I too will be in Paris around New Year's. We decided to go late and found hotels rooms scarce and some of the nights more expensive than others. If you got a deal...good for you!

Only had a jacuzzi once in Paris but it was divine! It was November, chilly and rainy and the tub was delightful to come back to!

I think the reason for the negativity about the Hilton La Defense
is due to several factors:

1. the distance that it is located from the core of Paris; you just
can walk out of your hotel and be immersed in the charm and
what Paris has to offer.

2. because of the distance, you have to take transportation to get
into Paris and back. That consumes time, money and sometimes a
hassle.

3. your are in a hotel just like any other hotel in a major city.
There is no charming buildings or neighborhoods or sightseeing
things to walk to.

I think that's why everyone was so against it, coz we are supposed to stay some place more charming/Parisian :-D

Another thing : the Défense area is a business center, which means that it will be deserted from the 24th late afternoon till the morning of the 26th, and again for New Year celebrations . Quite gloomy IMO ...

well if things go to plan we won't be in La Defense in the daytime.

Although I did heard that there's gonna be a xmas market there. So maybe not so deserted.
