We spent three nights in this hôtel, which is located just opposite the Panthéon monument . The area is very nice, with many beautiful monuments and the jardin du Luxembourg nearby . The Contrescarpe and Mouffetard area is also very close . But the fact that it is located right on top of Montagne Ste Geneviève and about five to ten minutes walk from the closest metro station (Cardinal Lemoine) means that you have to walk up the hill at the end of the day, when you just feel exhausted from all your previous sightseeing . An RER B station (direct from CDG) is closer to the hôtel, but we never used it .
The hôtel is the one on the right, with the red awnings . Just next door is its sister hôtel, l'hôtel des Grands Hommes :
We found the hôtel very pleasant : friendly staff, nice lobby and lovely bedroom :
Our door opened on a small corridor ended by a small desk . Left was an adequately-sized bathroom and right was the room itself . The room was quite small (Ian had posted recently a picture of his hotel bedroom and I had asked him whether his room didn't feel too claustrophobic with the wall very close to the bottom of the bed . Well, the wall in our room was just about as close to the bed ) . But we didn't feel claustrophobic indeed, and the closets were more than adequate, even if we had come with much more luggage . Everything was spottlessly clean .
Breakfast was in a vaulted cellar and was an adequate continental one, nothing great .
Our room was advertised at 255 euros + breakfast (12 euros), but, as much as we liked the place, it certainly wasn't worth that much money (and hôtel des Grandes Ecoles has the same flat rates) . So the big thing to do is to go directly on the hotel website, where they offer GREAT deals, especially for very early or very late bookings .

By booking early, we payed 125 euros for the first night and 140 euros for each two following nights, breakfasts included, and that was great value IMO . Actually, you can also access the hôtel des Grands Hommes from the same website, and both hôtels offer the same kinds of deals, except that they don't "rate" their rooms the same price for a specific date . So one night may be very cheap at the Pantheon and expensive at the Grands Hommes, and the next night may be just the opposite, so it is worth checking both . Actually, I had planned to go to the Grands Hommes to begin with, but the Pantheon deal was much better for our dates . I had seen on you-know-which forum that both hôtels are very similar except for the decoration style, so I finally opted for the Pantheon hôtel .
In all, a very nice place, just don't pay the full rate !
