Sandy - those are both very interesting. I'm curious, as it didn't really explain how one would enter and leave the Everland! And, it seems unlikely there is room service at the Everland, and what about maid service? Still, living in an art installation certainly would be a fascinating experience!

SANDY !!! I exalt you 100 times for these links ! Those are the most interesting accomodation tips I have seen. I suppose the Everland-container will be moved around to other cities shortly ? - and I don't think I would like it myself, BUT that luxury palace at Avenue Junot - wauw wauw wauw !! Look at the garden !! There is only Terrass Hotel in Montmartre for "upscale" demanding customers, but this beats Terrass for style ! (don't misunderstand: I am not in that league at all).

Thank You, Sandy! I think the Everland was fascinating, but I don't think I could possibly fall asleep in that space! Now, the Montmartre hotel - that is fabulous!!

Thank you Gitte. This is the information on their website, but they don´t mention where it wil go next:
"Hotel Everland was first developed on invitation of the Curator Gianni Jetzer for the Exhibition concept "Everland" at the Swiss national exhibition in the year 2002. The Hotel was planned by L/B and built by a team of craftspeople in Burgdorf. Following it was transported to Yverdon where it was located on the lake of Neuchatel for 4 moth. After the end of Expo.02 the mobile pavilion was brought to Burgdorf and was placed on the factory roof at L/B's studio.
From June 2006 until September 2007 the one room hotel was exhibited and run as a Hotel on the roof-deck of the Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig, Germany. Like in Yverdon, visitors could take a peek at the Hotel during the opening hours of the museum, after closing hours at 18.00 it was reserved for the guests.
As a last destination Hotel Everland moves to Paris from October 2007 until end of 2008. High above the city, with a view on the Eiffel Tower, it is installed on the roof of Palais de Tokyo. It will also be possible to book the room for the night or visit it during the day."

Out of curiosity I clicked the contact link to find out more, and it said that it's booked for the next 60 days (of course, "sold out" doesn't take much for this!).

Everland does not appeal to me at all. I would feel totally claustrophobic. However, the hotel in Montmartre looks fantastic. Maybe I missed the prices on the site but I assume it is expensive. Will go back and look again. Rooms had great appeal.
Found rates when I went back. Rooms are very expensive but oh, the gardens. Won't stay there but will certainly walk by when next in Paris.

Well, I am diffferent in that I don't like either of them!!! The Everland is gimimcy to me, and the one in Montmartre DOES have a wonderful garden , and I love the idea of the private courtyard. the interior is not to my taste. too spartan, too modern. As it is ti does not matter as I am sure it is beyond what I would want to pay! LOL

Yes Hotel Particulier Montmartre is a fabulous new hotel. It is small (only 5 suites decorated by renowned frenc artists) but very large and there is a nice architect designed garden around it. I stayed there and it was one of my best night. I have put their website on a travel website I manage www.hoosta.com where I put only unforgettable hotels. If you want to have a loonk on it you will see 400 unique hotels of Europe.

Saw Hotel Everland while walking around on Saturday - if it weren't for OPF, I would have had no clue what it was (looks like a sea-going shipping container temporarily located on top of a building during construction . . . .)

Hi Sandy, The everland hotel was a temporary hotel in 2007, and from what I have read, it is now back to Switzerland and is no longer a hotel room. What Becky saw on top of Palais de Tokyo is the temporary restaurant called "Nomyia", which I mentioned in another post (see "restaurant" section) As for the hotel in Montmartre, it seems fabulous !If I was a tourist in paris, I would love to stay there !! Or maybe it could be a good idea for a romantic night with my hubby-chéri !

I am glad to read this mention about fabulous hotels on this forum. Hotel Particulier Montmartre is a very good choice for a fabulous and unique stay in Paris, no doubt. Concerning fabulous hotel in Paris, I have experienced Hotel Bellechasse, next to Musee d'Orsay; an hotel entirely decorated from the bottom down by french fashion designer Christian Lacroix; I personally like very much its style for his use of colour that is just stunning; if you want to have a look: www.lebellechasse.com/ I guess that Mr Lacroix likes very much hotel as his latest creation just opened beginning of this year in front of the Cathedral Notre Dame and it's just awesome. I got invited there for a couple of nights and I was stunned by the beatuty of the place and the view of the Cathedral like I have nevers seen it: www.hotelnotredameparis.com/ Actually I like to hear from ohters. What do you think of those 2 hotels?

I think one of our members stayed at the Belle Chasse recently. I love the location of the Notre Dame and it's website is great.I'll keep it in mind for when we don't rent an apt.

If you are thinking of staying in the 11th, give La Grand Hotel Francais a look! Stellar reviews @ Trip Advisor and my positive comments in my recent "S" trip report! ;D

If I could afford it, I would stay here, www.hotel-paris-relais-saint-germain.com/friends stayed ther and when I visted them, I felt like I was in their home with beamed ceiling a chaize lounge. The restaurant was very special and was able to use the lounge area's computer to read my email.
