Hello, glad to find this site. I need suggestions for a clean hotel, preferably one with personality, within close walking distance to an RER B station south of the river: Denfert- Rochereau to St Michel- Notre Dame. Difficulty is needing a triple since we are traveling with our 11 year old and on a business budget constraint. Don't mind small - just want clean, safe and location within our budget. APpreciate any help.

We had a triple at Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche, which was quite nice (top floor, looked out at the St Severin church and Eiffel Tower). It was particularly nice because the bathroom was larger than most. It's on rue St Jacques, not far from the St Michel Metro and RER station.
You also might want to check on hotels.com or a similar site, which will show you the locations of the listed hotels on a map (allowing you to see whether they are close enough to the RER for your needs).

I've not stayed at the Hotel Monge but I have friends who have and they were happy with it. They do have triple , the area is convenient to St Michel and it's not too expensive. www.hotelmonge.com/The hotel linkl Gitte posted is a very good place to get some good prices too alnong with ideas.

Hi, We used this booking site for many years before finally hitting on "our" hotel, The Prince de Conde, 39 Rue de Seine. www.paris-travel.com/hotel-reservations-paris.html each time things went without a hitch, but like Gittek says check out reviews elsewhere before deciding! We have used the hotel now for our last 7 visits, and will be there again in Oct and March Whatever you decide, enjoy your trip!

For several years, until I discovered apartment rentals, I stayed at the Hotel de Suez, at 31 Blvd St. Michel. A wonderful little place, you couldn't ask for a better location, and the price is still pretty reasonable. www.hoteldesuez.fr

well, we are trying to stay around $200 - say 150 euro or so. Would be easier with just a little bump up since it seems like there is a gap btw the really budget and the nicer range, but trying to have a good time with what we have. One recommendation we have had is the Campanile brand, but they just seem so without personality. Might be wrong......

BTW, I do use trip advisor a lot. I am just trying to narrow down and get some different perspectives. Thanks everyone!

Have you considered an apartment? You should be able to find a good selection in your price range - try www.vacationinparis.com for starters. P.S. Hope you continue to come by this site as well - you will find a lot of interesting folks and a high level of expertise about many different subjects related to Paris/France.

Hi meaniegreenie (love your name!). We all have our own favorite apartments with wonderful memories attached. If you are of a mind to rent an apartment, which I highly recommend btw, do look at one of the companies we think of as the "usual suspects". Only because most of us have used them at one time or another and can recommend them without qualms. It is usually a better value for the money to rent an apartment rather than a hotel. And, as previously pointed out, your child will have a bit of room to run around, but you need to be a fairly independent traveler too. Whichever way you decide, I hope you have fun in Paris!
