Hello, I don't know if we are planning on a review board per se,, but I would like to post my thoughts on the two hotels I have stayed at... and I will do the same with the one I have booked for my upcoming trip.
Most of us posters here know about Tripadvisor review boards,, and I do recommend them for those of you who are not familar with them, but ,, it is still nice to hear about a hotel from someone you " know" LOL
Hotel Des Mines- On Boulevard St Michel,, about 15-20 minutes walk from Notre Dame. Good budget choice,, rooms generally available for 100 euros or less. Has A/C, cable tv, nice helpful staff who speak english, little convenience grocer next door for snacks, good clean rooms( but they are small!!!) good bathrooms( new modern fixtures, lots of hot water, showers in some rooms, tubs/ showers in others, showers are not for the huge,, although my hubby used them fine( 6'4" and 200 lbs)
Hotel Brighton- More exspensive, but rate specials can bring room rates down to 150- 200 euros a night. A/C, nice staff, good location across from Tuilleries and just down from Lourve,
Mini fridge, decent sized rooms, safe in room, but most importantly ,,, the rooms that are "Tuilleries View" rooms have incredible Paris views. Our room had two mini balconys( big enough for two to stand out on, but not furniture, pull out the desk chair) and sweeping views across Tuilleries, Lourve, to Eiffel Tower you can watch twinkle at night!!! I actually tried to rebook this hotel for August ,, but no view rooms left for my dates,, and I know why,, I told too many people how great it was) .
Both of these hotels have elevators( Brighton has two) ,, but neither would be considered fancy,, I do recommend both though.
I am staying at the Hotel Le Regent in the 6 th this August,, which gets high marks for location ,, so we will see if it is worth the extra $.
Truffaut ,, I realize you are too busy having fun to police these boards,, ,, so I hope this is not inappropriate to start this thread,, if so delete at your convenience! LOL
