This is usually the time of year when people receive or buy a new camera or other photo equipment. In that I have been a professional photographer for 38 years and have posted many times on another forum and Our Paris (my absolute favorite) on photography, please ask questions and use me as a resource. My very best to all of you this holiday season.

Randy - I know you do weddings, but I take it that you don't travel as far as Israel for a job, right?

Shoesy -
I do travel internationally. In addition to Victoria, BC, Kingston, Ontario and Cancun, Mexico I travel extensively in the US - Texas, Boston, ETC.
What most people do is provide me with an airplane ticket (gathered from friends with frequent flyer miles) and put me up and I charge my regular fee for the wedding photography. I can either provide the cards, take the cards back and burn CD's and mail them or provide a wedding album with photographs, etc.

Hi Darcy - You might want to go to www.bhphotovideo.com/It is where I do most of my camera shopping Select SLR digital cameras Select Nikon Scroll down to Nikon D40X with 18-135mm zoom lens. Price of 819.95 meets your criteria. 10.2 megapixels, built in flash I'm not a favorite of carrying and changing lenses when I travel. You don't want to get the sensor inside the camera dirty. Usually when a camera kit is offered 2 lenses, etc), the lenses are not the top quality ones. Scroll around Nikon and do the same with Canon. Good hunting

Thanks, Randy
bhphotovideo is where I found the camera I asked about but, of course, I really didn't know what I was looking at. I do like their compare feature, that helps a lot. I'm glad to know that you agree about changing lenses. I will go look at the camera you mentioned. Thanks!

oh, btw, you've piqued my curiosity! Did you photograph a wedding in Kingston, Ontario? That's not far from where I was born and grew up. Small world and all that.

Hi Darcy - B&H does an excellent job of bringing comparison information and specifications for the cameras, lenses and other photo equipment. It was Kingston, Ontario. It was a beautiful large brick church on the right side about 3-4 blocks up from the wharf. I am still in touch with the couple and they have 2 daughters. The wedding was about 6 years ago. The reception was DOWN HILL to the wharf to board a 3 deck boat and travel through the river, fortunately missing all the little islands. 3 years ago I photographed her brother's wedding in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Hi Randy ! The truth is that we already do have a photographer for our son's July, 2008 wedding, but I think it's wonderful that you travel all over to take photos at weddings. Your services must be very much in demand. I bet it's very rewarding to be able to participate in one of the happiest days that a couple can experience, and it must give you lots of pleasure to not only be present at so many beautiful events, but to know that your work can really make a difference.
