Ok, I took a French class to help with our trip. I feel pretty confident with most of the usual traveler words, but there are two that for whatever reason I just am not getting. So...how do you pronounce 1--Champ Elysees (I can do champ, but elysees gets me) and 2-Forfait Loisirs.

Thanks! I am having lunch with the gals from my French class tomorrow, so I will make them listen to me as I practice saying these words over and over ;D

I was probably wrong to put in the "n". You don't really pronounce an "n", but you definitely don't pronounce an "m". It's like an "n" without closing your tongue to the top of your mouth....

It's very nasal, too.
It's hard to phonetically spell something nasal. That's where the "n" came in! Let me find my Petit Robert, I bet there is a phonetic spelling in it that makes sense.

The pronounciation on the following website is not always perfect to my French ears. Some of the liaisons are not done well, but if you write any sentence in French, Alain will repeat it as long as you please. For example Sur les Champs Elysées il y a toujours une foule de gens. or Les forfaits voyages font économiser beaucoup d'argent. www.naturalvoices.att.com/demos/

This is great -- I've lost much of my accent over the years since studying French, and my husband is just trying to learn (never studied). We both will use this! Thanks again (I mean, merci!).

Super, Luc !! Those are exactly the 2 sentences that are on the top of my "must-know-how-to-pronounce-list" too !! ;D

Luc, this is fantastic!!!
It's going to be a long long time (if ever) before I can hope to be perfect, so for now I'll settle for making my pronunciation...less embarrassing!
Thank you so much!
