Hubby has found this great site to learn French, it covers everything from beginner to advanced stages and there are tests and quiz sections. It also does assessments to tell you which stage you are at and there is an online 7 day e-course free of charge. not sure if anyone on here has already discovered it but here it is anyway.

Thanks for posting this one, Andi. I'll spend some time exploring it later. Hubby and I are starting a class next week, too. It's not for credit, just an informal basic "travelers French" type of thing. But it sounds fun, and I know we'll learn a thing or two. Good luck to you and the others who are taking the plunge!
