The IrishRovr registered on this forum was not THE IrishRovr. Therefore, that account has been closed, as has the account in the name of KDKSAIL.
THE Irish wants me to convey to everyone that he's not participating on any travel forums at the moment and that he's happily spending his waking hours sailing. Eventually, he'll be around, but probably not until after the summer.

Thanks for the update Truffaut. I knew all along that they were not the real McCoys.

I don't understand why anyone would pose as someone else, even as a joke! I even emailed the fake Irish! That makes me feel dumb (and being a blonde I really don't like that!) I truly miss the real IrishRovr and hope that after he sails away he really will come back and stop by to spread some of that Irish knowledge around here...

I was 100% certain that Irish hadn't signed up on this forum. The real Irish would have started posting immediately, and the same goes for KDKSAIL.

Wow! Sailing! That sounds lovely! I have sailed on catamarans and loved it! Well, it would be wonderful to have IrishRovr join us...but sailing..that does sound splendid! Thanks for that bit o' news! Interesting how there was a fake IrishRovr and you say, KDKSail too? huh!

There's not really a way to confirm identities. User names are not copyrighted, so anybody can sign up with any name from another site. It's really not that big a problem, as it all sorts itself out in the end. No harm done, just some wasted time from some people from some other site, I'm sure.
Let's not beat a dead horse on this one!

We won't Truffaut...it's just that we all like Irish and I think we all hoped it was really him!

It's great to hear an update on Irish. I am enjoying this new forum very much and think it provides a great alternative to some other sites. I realize that it will take some time, but it seems to me that this forum will find its own voice only when news about TA begins to recede from prominence. Although it'd be great to hear from some of the old favorites, I'm confident that new voices with new expertise will emerge to make this forum fun and informative. In fact, it's already happening!

Glad you heard from the real IrishRovr. I had also sent him personal messages on this site and TA as we had been corresponding earlier about whether our time in Paris in September would overlap and whether we could meet for lunch. Some people were having major fantasy attacks, I guess.

Me too! We will all wait (im)patiently for him to return in his own good time. As long as we know he is well and enjoying himself, that is all that truly matters.

Andi, that reminds me of another new thread I think we should start:
"What's the most valuable advice you've gotten from this (or even another) Paris blog?"
I'm betting we'd get a lot of different answers, and most of them won't be the advice we got on how much a taxi costs from CDG to the hotel!
