I just read in a French magazine I get that the Hall of Mirrors is scheduled to reopen on June 25 (which is a Monday and the palace is closed that day, but they are having a big reception, etc.)
I'll be going soon thereafter and look forward to seeing it!

I didn't know it was closed! I am so looking forward to Versailles--it never dawned on me that parts of it could be closed. We plan to be there on July 5, so hopefully it will be open.

Yes, for three years now they have been restoring the hall of mirrors "to its original luster". They never closed the entire thing down, but did it in shifts. When I was there in March w/ my students, we got to see some of it, and to read a long explanation about what they were doing with the rest of it. It will be nice.
As one of my male students said "Dude, it would be so cool to blade (rollerblade) down this room. Awesome." (I memorized his quote, it was too good.)
Ahhh, the future of America.
