Well as you may know my hubby just spent 2 weeks in Europe. London, Paris and Hanover( Germany , relatives there) . He has lived in Germany,, and was maninly viisting relatives, but in London and Paris he was 100 % tourist. He had never been to Paris before. He had only spent 2 days in London before. This trip he had another few days in London, and almost 5 days in Paris. He declared, since he has now been to both, about an equal amount of time( although minute) ,, that Paris was in fact much more interesting,, and he really enjoyed the " cafe culture" , and just wandering around the little side streets in Paris. Yippee, he wants to go back,, you see, he was always one of those who would say to me " well you have been there, why not go somewhere different " ! Now he sees ,, that a holiday in Paris is so restorative( if one doesn't rush through it) . He loved the metro and proclaimed in better then the tube in London ( I am not sure if I agree here) , and my son loved Invalids( sp?) war and weapons etc.. Hubby liked all the food, but , my son ate way too much McD's( he is so picky and frankly he has some other issues so this is not a battle we wage with him) Grant said the GPS in friends car was a life saver. Also, they went to the Canadain war memorial at Vimy and said it was very moving ,, just being there .

I'm glad they had a good trip. It is so good for young people especially to get to see Europe.

Joan, how could anyone on this particular forum ever have doubts about Paris being the winner ?

I'm really glad that your hubby now understands how you feel about Paris. Now you can start taking trips together.

Yes, Joan, it probably was a good thing that he went on his own and came to that conclusion all by himself!! Now you will be able to look forward to a trip together how fun. And I'm doing the opposite - after going with my husband I'm taking my mom next trip. Anyway, so glad that he agrees with you now (and of course with us) and declared Paris the winner!

Joan, that's great! I hope this means lots more Paris in your future! When we're planning holidays, I always feel a strong inclination to return to places I love (Paris!) instead of going to new destinations. It took several trips, but it was a breakthrough when my husband declared that he didn't think he'd ever tire of visiting Paris. I was thrilled because I'd already reached that conclusion. Even when we're traveling to other places in Europe, we always try to include a few days in Paris. And I'm glad to hear you're not worried about the stops at McDonald's. With kids, that adage about choosing your battles is really true! So glad your husband and son had such a great trip.

Yes,, hubby is ho9me,, now all I have to do is suffer through our family summer camping trip in July,, and then I can really look forward to my trip to Paris in August!!!
PS ( I do like the family camping trip, we have a motorhome so it is not truly roughing it,, but when one has a trip to Paris coming ,, everything else just seems to get in the way! LOL)

Joan, now all you have to do is keep from rolling your eyes and saying "well, of course you liked Paris better!!" Just be a gracious winner, and you'll be doing annual trips to Paris in no time (with him thinking it was his idea all along)!

Ah,, Becky,, annual trips with hubby will be a few years yet,, after this next trip ( with a friend) my next trip is either next summer or summer after, with my daughter. Then I may have a dry spell of a year or two. We want our teen boys on their own before we both leave the house, we like our walls standing.LOL Oldest son is 17 this fall, so three or four years and we should be able to contemplate taking trips together!
