Hi all, I was pointed to this forum from another and wanted to share my recent trip photo blog. Paris was part of a larger trip (including Sweden and Poland) so starting on this date below is Paris. Navigate the dates at the bottom of each post. Enjoy and let me know what you think. jakeandkarengotoeurope-spring07.blogspot.com/2007_05_30_archive.html

Hi Karen, and welcome! What great pictures, as you can see this gang loves to travel vicariously and we always want to know what interested everyone else (plus, I personally always hear about places I knew nothing about, which go on my list for the next trip)!

Hello Karen
What great shots! I loved the Galleries Lafayette photo - I know I couldn't get such a wide panorama in with my camera so I simply drool over you shot.
Amazing how many similar places we went to at Montmartre. Were you also doing the guided walk by Paris Walks? or following your own map, or maybe your own nose??
And that lovely local park near your hotel on your first night looks like the Lac Daumesnil and gardens on the western edge of the Bois Vincennes (also, given the name of the local bistrot in which you were eating - Daumesnil). Is that right? Were you staying out in the 12th? I only ask 'cos I didn't get to that part of Bois de Vincennes myself as it is a huge and diverse place.

Cathy Thanks everyone, that blog started out as a way of recording our trip for ourselves, but it has turned out to be a great way to show everyone what we did and answer all those vacation questions. Cathy, I purchased the Canon SD800 specifically because it had a wider angle lens. I had another camera with interchangable lens but I got tired of lugging it around, I wanted compact but still good. Yep, we did the Paris Walks walk. It would have been very frustrating trying to do that by ourselves! Yes, you are right, we stayed in 12th and that was Bois Vincennes. That was the only night we made it to the park, next time, if we stay in that area, we will explore more.

Ahh, that explains how much you can get into your shot. Similarly, the Louvre ceiling shot was a great one.
I've got some photos of a totally different part of the Bois de Vincennes on the 'Live trip report...' thread - it just shows how diverse this wood is as they're really different to yours.
