Gitte - I had that issue once (something I knew I had posted and could not find). Then I realized that part of the search function has a default that severely limits the maximum number of results, and also has a default that limits it to the last seven days, so if you're searching a word that is used often and the post is old, it won't go back that far. But, you can change the number of results (however, you have to do it each time, if you do more than one go).

Other search options. If you know who posted to a particular post and you are looking for their replies to other posts, go to that post (thread) and find the person's name click on name. This will take you to their profile. Will show last five posts replied to if you click on one of the five recent listed it will bring back the entire Thread of that post or you can change number "View # (i.e. 20) recent posts" and click then Submit. This will bring back all their recent posts within number indicated. If you click on Subject (Blue) it will bring back entire Thread.
or you can go to Member List on Home Page, click on Member list (which is alphabetical (thank you Truffaut) then name and do above.
Or you can click on your own profile and do the same if you are trying to remember a particular post you replied to.
Once you pull up posts you can also do Ctrl F (holding down together and releasing) this will bring up a search screen and you can type the word you are looking for and click find. if not on that page you will get a message "The text you entered not found" This is what I did for apple. I knew which thread it was in just not the poster.

Aha !!! So that's how it works !!! I too had once been unsuccessful when trying to search for an old post, only unlike Gitte, I was too lazy to ask for help. Stupid me !!!
