Yes Truffaut I was using AOL...but always use it...never had a problem before! Well I've been knocked off here with the error message, but was always able to just log back on...this time was just not able to get on. Except in the chatroom!!?? Trust me folks, you'll know how addicted you are if that ever happens!! Thankfully Luc was in the chatroom and got in touch with our fearless leader! (Though he says he had nothing to do with sovlving the problem!) Now I have a lot of catching up to do!

I've gotten messages from goldenmama through TA about the same problem. Yesterday she was able to get on again, but apparently not today. I have given her the word about switching to Internet Explorer for a browser but I'm not sure how feasible that is if she doesn't have a lot of computer savvy -- Andi, if I hear back from her can I put you in touch if she doesn't know how to do it? (I ask because you seem more of a techie than most of us!)

This is a problem that only afflicts die-hard AOL users (my SO is one of them!). It has been happening more and more frequently, possibly because we've got more and more users. The only thing I can advise is to access the site through IE or Firefox. Personally, I find Firefox to be preferable.

I tend to use Safari which is a MAC option. I can also use Internet Explorer but Safari generally works faster.

Hi Goldenmama, It makes me feel better too! I got on thru AOL yesterday afternoon, but not again this morning. So I just went to internet explorer. Bummer because everything is smaller, YES I Did maximize!. but the print and all is smaller! Alos when I'm on AOL I hear my e-mail coming thru and can do other things. Oh well..maybe this is a hint I'm, spending too much time here! And just when I learned to bookmark!!

Geordy, Firefox is internet browsing software that works exactly like Internet Explorer. The difference is that it is MUCH more secure and has FAR FEWER annoying bugs than the Microsoft's Internet Explorer. I HIGHY recommend it! The software is free to download and very easy to install. All you do is follow the instructions on the screen, choosing the default or recommended option each time. You can download the software from this site: www.mozilla.com/en-US/

Geordy, you can run AOL and Internet Explorer at the same time. That's why we have windows!!! See the three buttons in the upper right corner of the screen? The middle one makes you "window" slightly smaller. You can put your cursor on the border of the window, hold down the button and drag your border to resize the window to any size and shape you want. If you move it over to one side, you can then open another window with Internet Explorer and to the same thing, arraning that window on the other side of your screen. That's what I do when I'm in the chat room, but want to keep an eye on the Forum, too! I can just go back and forth.

I wasn't able to get into the chat room with internet explorer!! I got a message saying I had to okay pop ups, which I did, but still no go. So I gave up and starting defrosting my refrigerator!! Yes , citizens of the world.. I live in Manhattan(yes the real one in NYC!) but have to defrost the half size fridge in my tiny rent stabilized studio apartment!!
Down loaded Foxfire so will try that tomorrow when I can't get on here thru AOL.
Just now...I just clicked on the website name and was welcomed!!! I guess when I logged on yesterday afternoon I did so for a week. But this AM..banned!!

I got a message saying I had to okay pop ups, which I did, but still no go. Believe it or not, that's typical. You often have to click on the link, then approve the pop-up, then click on the link AGAIN, and then click OK once your user name appears. It's a complete pain in the ass, which is why I'm now recommending Firefox. Try it. If you can't get in with Firefox maybe God (the real one, not Shoesy) might be trying to tell you that you should go somewhere besides Paris

Yes, precisely so ! That is what I have to do...I am first alerted that I have to temporarily allow what they call "scripted windows" and so I okay that and then have to click in again to the chatroom site! Yes, one gets used to it albeit it does take extra "clicks"!

I changed to Firefox some time back and it has been great.
One of the best moves I have ever made (on my computer, that is).
