When you are responding to another posting, do not use the "Quick Reply" feature at the bottom of the window. Instead, click on the "Reply" icon at the bottom right of the thread. That will open a new window with a variety of editing options. You can change the font, change the color, add hyperlink, and by clicking the icon that looks like a photograph, you can insert a picture directly into your posting.

This is how I do it just incase you are baffled. 1. Go to a site like Photobucket or Imageshack and upload the picture you want to post 2. It will say "browse" at which point you click it and find the picture to upload from your computer ie: mydocuments/pictures 3. Click "upload" and that picture will upload to Photobucket or Imageshack etc. 4. (For Photobucket anyway) When the image is uploaded there will be a small list below the image with URL, HTML Tag or IMG codes, If you click over the IMG code a little yellow box pops up and says "copied" 5. You then come to this forum and go to the section you want to place your picture in, you type what you want to say then below it you "right click" your mouse and click on the word "paste" It should then put in the IMG code that you got, ie: (IMG)blahblahblah(IMG) 6. When you then submit your post it should have a picture on it. Here is the link for Photobucket photobucket.com/And Image shack imageshack.us/You will need to register to use the basic services for them both. You may need to resize some pictures if they are too large, I use this site, www.resize2mail.com/This is how you resize your picture. 1. Go to the resize site first before uploading 2. Click the browse button and find the picture you want to insert 3. Decide what shape and size you want to make it and put a dot in that choice. 4. Click "okay" 5. Wait for it to do its job (your picture will then appear on the screen) you simply right click over it and "Save picture as" 6. Save the new resized picture to wherever you keep your pictures on the computer. From here you follow the steps for uploading your picture to Photobucket or Imageshack. Hope this helps, I tried to explain it as easily as possible without too many fancy techno words. If you are having problems send me a message and I will try to help, Good Luck! ;D

Shoesy love - I will give it a try this weekend. If I can do it, so can you. I don't know ANYTHING about digital photos. My photo-knowledge is at the level of a Kodak disposable

I tried changing the color of my post by doing what Truffaut said, and nothing changed. I clicked on purple, and then the word "purple" appeared on my post, but my words didn't change to purple.

Excellent, GitteK! You are really groovin' now what with you new avatar (bye bye lil ole penguin, sweet as you were) and now inserting pictues! Whoah! What next ! But is fun to see the pics...travel related or not! (poor, poor Volvo! ) That is a random shot taken during one of our strolls (flaneuring) in Paris! One could possibly argue..that I am getting a little picture happy here? Well, I have to remember to click the "don't show sizing" or whatever option next time at the ImageShack site!

;D Thanks, andiandgaz - With such detailed directions ("Photo Insertion for Dummies"?) I got it to work for the avatar (fortunately, Friday afternoon at the office is a pretty slow time!). And, I even managed the picture insert -- here's proof: Sunset from Ile St Louis, February 2002 Paris bridge at night, February 2002 Merci encore, Becky

OH MY GOD HAPPY, WE'RE IN WAY OVER OUR HEADS NOW!!!! I took a digital camera to Paris last year and I can use it and print pictures on my HP picture maker (instant gratification) but I don't have a clue how to put them into the computer nor would I know how to follow those directions to put pictures here. WAY TO INTIMINATING! They are going to be a wonderful addition to this site. But gee, it seems like only yesterday we were learning avatars!

Hey! Well done everyone See, it goes to show you that its never too late to learn new stuff, in the next week or so you will be adding pictures and changing avitars like you've always done them without a thought..........wont mention about having your own banner insigniture (will have to ask truffaut about that later) TA may be a bigger site (and still a good source of info) but doesn't it look dull and boring now? LOL ;D

Oh, Andiandgaz, wait till the cat lovers see your avatar, everyone is going to ask HOW?

Exactly the same way! ;D When you are looking for a picture you type in Cat gif ( a gif is a moving picture) most sites allow you to "right click" and "save picture as" to your computer, then you upload it to Photobucket as normal and copy the URL. This is where I got mine cybergata.com/anim.htm
