Carla Bruni is pregnant. Three months along, they are saying (friend of theMD who say her at the American Hosipital). How is that for fresh off the presses? Now I just hope that I am not proved wrong!!!

It sounds like she got pregnant on the first date.

Shoesy, I was thinking the same thing. It seems to me that they are little old to be having an "oops" baby. Must have been love at first sight.

So, that's why the marriage took place right away! Would this be the first baby at the Elysee or at least as long as I can remember?

Actually, she is supposed to have met him END of November, and we are beginning of February ... 3 months pregnant, they say ... Phread, no offense, but I do hope that you are wrong : I already feel wary ahead of the fuss that all this would make ...

Phread, you DO have your thumb on the pulse of things don't you...we're lucky to have you! In a way though, it makes me sad for the child if the marriage was only because of the pregnancy...

I cannot imagine anyone as "experienced" as Carla having an unplanned pregnancy. By this time she should know about the birds and the bees.

Well, do you think that Sarko's approval ratings will go up or down with the news? I wonder how important it is that he married her...(I'm sorry, I am a cynic!!)

Chouchou, I love your way of thinking ! Sister, I don't think that his approval rating will go up . I suspect that many people will think that this will be yet another thing to distract him from French problems . And I think that I am not the only one to sigh : "how much are we going to hear about THAT !" . That's why I still hope that Phread's friend misheard the whole thing ... The newspapers will be opening champagne bottles though : months and months of things to write and photos and gossips ;D ...

Hmm, makes one of our former president's cigar antics a little less serious, doesn't it?

;D
Can't say I really care about any politician's personal affairs. We currently have a U.S. President who appears to be a truly faithful husband and should that be the litmus test of whether he is a good President?
I really did not think that the French were concerned about this type of thing. After all haven't previous leaders had long term mistresses and children with them? Isn't it more the way Sarko is getting news coverage?

Of course you are right Holger . Former presidents had mistresses, and sometimes illegitimate kids too . Only they kept quiet about this, and therefore the media did so too . This kind of unspoken agreement has been blown up by Sarko . The funny thing is that when he would have liked the media to keep quiet, like during his problems with Cecilia, he would look offensed and hurt and complain about their lack of "restraint" and "decency" ...

I don't think he has the energy level to cheat. Not sure about the earlier days of his marriage though. Disturbing pictures in my mind ...think I'll head over to the pot thread....
