Andi, I'm rather certain it doesn't matter if you are an EU resident, you have to be a resident of the town of the Mairie where you want to get married. The residency requirement is 30 days. Last I was aware, this was for anyone who was not a resident of that town, where that Mairie is. Then you get married in the Mairie, and you can have your "unofficial" wedding wherever you want. If you look online, there are multiple services that will take care of all the paperwork for you, and they have some "secret" way of getting around the residency requirement. Try www.weddingsinfrance.com/destination_wedding_locations/ile_de_france_paris.htmlLes

Hi Andi -- this whole thread was while I was on vacation and somehow I missed it. First let me say, what fun! The second throught -- I know there are people out there who specialize in arranging things like this but I'm not sure how you would find one. The third thought -- I don't know if you are contemplating a religious ceremony, but if you are members of a church that is also in France (e.g., Catholic) you might be able to pull some strings through your church.
Good luck with this -- we will all be interested to know how the plans progress as you go along.
