Already Annette and geordy have participated in these exciting workshop visits, so I just wanted to tell everyone that I am going to visit a DOLL-DOCTOR's WORKSHOP on the 18th April (visit no. 65). Only 12 € - that is SO cheap for extraordinary experiences like these. I would have loved to visit the china painter (74) and the bookbinder (75) too, but those are in the following week. www.meetingthefrench.com/reservation.php?Submit=1&Type=9&Start=60 They also have more expensive 3 hour events, where you have a lot of "dégustations" included (click on "Gastronomie") www.meetingthefrench.com

This looks like a really great visit - I am going to send this link to the nephews/niece who are going to be in Paris with us in early June, and see whether anyone wants to do one of these (although, since this is their first trip to Paris and we only have three days there, they may prefer to do "the usual").

You come up with some of the most interesting things to do. Thanks for the photos also.

That really sounds like fun. I'm going to check into some of the shorter sessions for our fall trip. I did see one I know David would like, furniture restortion, but hope I can find one we'd both like.

That is such a great idea! Especially for all of you lucky souls who have seen the more famous sites over and over...this forum truly is a blessing for anyone planning a memorable trip to Paris.

I think that the doll-doctor's workshop will be lots of fun, even though I assume that you won't get anything to taste at the end of the visit. Incidentally, I've never hidden my love for puppies and kitties, but I don't think I've ever mentioned how much I adore stuffed animals and dolls. I have one particular porcelain doll that I bought in France (not Paris) a number of years ago, and she is sooooo beautiful that if she were real, there's no way I'd let her be anywhere near my hubby! ;D

oooops............. I have more or less planned to put these 2 visits (the other one is at Rochoux's chocolate establishment) at the bottom of my list (even if I have already paid for them). I have so many things I want to do - and I somewhat regret having booked in advance. Let's see - perhaps I'll be able to squeeze them in (between meals...... ;D ;D)

Gitte. You must have some interest in dolls. Do you make them? Do you collect them? Did you have one that needed to go to the doll hospital? s

Paris Breakfasts today features the Doll Museum which I'm sure has come up on here before.
After reading about it in Paris Notes years ago we visited..very charming! Went back a few yeas later for I think a Barbie anniversary special exhibition because we were in the area. Certainly worth a look!

Gitte, I do believe that shop is in my neighborhood. It's not far from the wig shop that makes all the wigs for the Opéra National.

No, Truffaut, think not. It's in Avenue Daumesnil, therefore not even close to your 'hood.

Ah, then there's another doll hospital in Batignolles.

Am curious if anyone who has participated in the Meeting the French program had any difficulty booking online? I've been trying to book an October stained glass workshop tour, but every time I attempt to book it, I get a notice that my session has expired and that I need to try again. Have sent an inquiry email, which I hope may resolve the problem.

Jo, it's too bad you're having a problem with the site. I booked ours online a day or two before, from our hotel in Paris, and didn't have a problem. You might try accessing the site with a different internet browser.

I booked a chocolate tour and didn't have any problems at all - I booked about a month before my arrival in April.

We booked online a few weeks before we left and did the choclate tour recommended by Annette. We both really enjoyed this. The macaroon chef, Patrick, was very entertaining and the cholate chef was a cutie pie. They gave us lots of free samples too.

Thanks Annette, Sandra, and Suzanne. It may be a temporary thing with the website. I did try a different browser. Fortunately, there's plenty of time yet, so am sure we can work it out.

Just to follow up on my note about booking on the Meeting the French website. I received a very prompt reply to my email requesting assistance with information, the booking accomplished and a link to a secure site for payment. Now have the voucher in hand, and we're looking forward to the visit.
