OBS OBS OBS !! Be sure to visit the exquisite embroidery shop "Au Bonheur des Dames" in Passage Verdeau (the north extension of Passage Jouffroy). It opens at 10:30. The shop owner has embroidered every piece on display herself. Piece of advice: DO NOT BRING MALES... they will NEVER understand ! www.bonheurdesdames.com/fr/index_fr.php?design_page=1OBS ! If you choose the café opposite the embroidery shop for coffee, remember it only has a toilette à la Turque ("il faut être souple, Madame !")

Gitte, Thank-you so much for thinking to post the embroidery shop. It has been moved up on my list as the first thing to do, maybe before using the toilet. My husband says that I can complain for hours about having to find one and then I see a shop I like and 3 hours I'm walking out the door, smile on my face, seemingly forgotton all about it. Its like a miricle!!! susan

I can't wait for one of you to post about the shop...but Truffant seems to be right on with opinions. But if you are in the neighborhood??? And I love to rummage around in odd antique shops nearby.
Annette, it seems you will be first to visit.

Annette, it seems you will be first to visit. Woohoo! Lucky me! Like I said, I'll try to leave a few little somethings for those who follow... 38 days... Betsy, thanks for the post about this shop, it looks right up my alley. I'll let you know how it is. And Gitte, thanks for the link with the pics! It looks like a cute place.

ladyjicky ! I see now that you are into pastels (maybe also aquarels ?). Have you tried the link to the blog (go to her main page) ? - she makes some very pretty stuff, IMO. This is her gallery: www.flickr.com/photos/parisbreakfast/sets/72057594114774269/detail/(I was never any good at aquarel - all that water running all over the picture....... )

Gitte, your post of that link neatly ties this thread to the one on perfume - the one of the "Soir de Paris" (aka, "Evening in Paris") bottles, which was IMO the height of elegance when I was about 12 years old, and I had totally forgotten about it until I saw that.

Oh god Becky...Evening in Paris...what did that run, about $1.99 a gallon? I guess we really are dating ourselves with all this talk about Brut and Evening in Paris...I love Gillot's water colors. I hope there are at least a few in the shop...and, yes, Gitte...the water always ran all over the paper. (That's why no one has ever heard of the great artiste, Gittek )
